    Watch: Bolivian general gets arrested on live TV after failed coup attempt

    On Wednesday, Bolivia experienced a serious coup attempt as armoured vehicles seized control of the political house in La Paz. Following President Luis Arce’s denial of the action as a coup and the need for international support, the troops immediately withdrew themselves under the direction of General Juan José Ziga. Within days, Zúñiga and former military Vice Admiral Juan Arnez Salvador were arrested, bringing an end to the revolution. This incident adds to Bolivia’s already-existing political and economic turbulence, where President Arce and former leader Evo Morales are engaged in a terrible power conflict within the ruling Movement for Socialism group.
    The coup attempt, which started with Plaza Murillo being stormed by soldiers, attracted the sharp criticism of both domestic and international rulers.
