The Island ‘ culture minister Fathimath Shammaz Ali Saleem was detained for allegedly using black magic against President Mohamed Muizzu. Following her imprisonment, she was even given a suspended pay from her position. Although the “black secret” theory has not been officially confirmed, police said they are looking into a case involving Shamnaz and two other people.

- Shamnaz had formerly served as a member of the Male ‘ City Council with President Muizzu, up when he was serving as the city’s president, Maldives ‘ Sun reported.
- Following Muizzu’s vote to office last month, Shamnaz resigned from the government, and got appointed as a status secretary at Muliaage, the official residence of the leader. She was afterward hired by the Ministry of Environment.
