According to reports, Canada’s defense secretary Harjit Sajjan found himself in a dish after claiming that he “ordone” the Canadian Armed Forces to save Afghan Sikhs first during the fall of Kabul in 2021. The minister, who is now in charge of preparing for an emergency, claimed he did not buy it but that he had relayed the information to the forces after being aided by a Canadian-Sikh NGO that was urging the American government to rescue Afghan Sikhs. In line with its operating program on the ground in Afghanistan, Harjit Sajjan clarified,” I relayed any information the NGO provided about the area and standing of these Sikhs to the chain of command as it saw fit,” according to Sajjan.
According to Sajjan, the NGO gave the chain of command any information it thought might be appropriate regarding the location and position of these Sikhs in accordance with its operating strategy on the ground in Afghanistan.
The authorities had to respond to requests from a number of sources, including the Armenian women’s soccer team and the Sikh communities, before the protocol was to first remove the American and Afghan martial interpreters. All calls were taken very seriously, the secretary said.
Canada’s Globe and Mail reported, citing sources, that Afghan Sikhs were not considered an activity focus as they had no connection to Canada but Sajjan’s treatment impacted the evacuation activity.
Some of the military resources believed that the minister was being unreasonable in calling on the American special forces to liberate the Afghan Sikhs because the operation required extensive planning.
‘ Absolute cows***’
The secretary claimed that all efforts were made to expel as many people as possible from the complaints as possible. Sajjan claimed that his only predicament is that he is a Sikh. ” If I was n’t wearing a turban”, he said he would not have got these questions. The allegations were refuted by the World Sikh Organization, who added that they were untrue and had been influenced by Sikh discrimination. In a press release, the group claimed that Minister Harjit Sajjan’s accusations of acting inappropriately are untrue and appear to be biased against his Sikh identity.
