The administration of President Joe Biden just announced that almost 309, 000 Haitian illegal immigrants will receive “temporary amnesty” in the US.
The temporary asylum order was made public by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in a Friday media release. After the Temporary Protected Status for Haitians expires on August 4, the Biden administration announced that momentary asylum may be granted to Haitians who are already residing in the United States for an additional 18 weeks.
The Department of Homeland Security claimed that the momentary asylum for Haitians was “warranted because conditions that support Haiti’s title are ongoing and that doing so was not in the country’s interests.”
Following a quick rise in crime as criminals have ruled the nation for the past year, hundreds of thousands of Haitians have fled the country and emigrated to neighboring nations, according to The Post Millennial.
The Department of Homeland Security explained that many locations in Haiti have faced crime, insecurity, and restricted access to food, water, health, and health treatment.

” Haiti is especially prone to flooding and landslide, and usually experiences considerable damage due to storms, flooding, and tremors”, the Department of Homeland Security stated. These overlapping charitable issues have resulted in persistent, urgent humanitarian requirements.
Mayorkas announced a temporary asylum for Haitians in the United States on Friday, saying,” We are providing this charitable relief to Haitians now present in the United States given the circumstances that were present in their home country as of June 3, 2024. We are achieving both our obligation to comply with the TPS law’s fundamental purpose.
Simply Haitians who entered the United States before June 3 may be eligible for the momentary asylum extension, according to the press release. Any Haitians who enter the country after June 3 but do not have a “legal foundation to be” face possible repatriation.
