According to Family Research Council Action president representative Tony Perkins, the Republican National Committee plans to cut its system by about half and refocus the pro-life provisions so that abortion is a state issue.

” The career concern is changing. They’re scaling everything again, cutting the program in about half &nbsp, &nbsp, — which when you start cutting it in half, you’re going to begin losing something”, Perkins told The Federalist. They’ve been really honest about how the life plank will be significantly altered to reflect the former president’s state of mind, according to them.

Based on the Fifth and 14th Amendments of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, the group’s present program includes procedures that call for the safety of unborn children.

Perkins said the program has been calling for a human life amendment since the mid-1980s is not included in the document.

The 2016 system, also used in 2020, is 58 websites.

” According to what they communicated to members”, Perkins said, “it could be half that, could be less”.

According to current rumors and requests to reduce the platform, something like this does happen for pro-life advocates.

” We have heard that the pro- living language, which has been essentially the same since 1984, will probably change or remain cut”, Kris Ullman, chairman of Eagle Forum, told The Federalist Wednesday night.

The system council had not yet decided on any speech, according to Danielle Alvarez, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, who told The Federalist on Tuesday.

Alvarez claimed that the system committee is still deciding what language should be included in the final document. &nbsp,

Eagle Forum Executive Director Tabitha Walter acknowledged that there has been an inner conflict between individuals in the RNC and the Trump campaign regarding the product’s ongoing pro-life rules. &nbsp,

There is no denying that those discussions are occurring frequently and that some RNC and Trump campaign supporters are n’t necessarily coming together or finding common ground on this matter, Walter said on Tuesday.

    Changing the Operation

According to Perkins, the group’s rules governing the app approach have changed considerably from those of the past, which dictated available meetings.

Perkins said that” the process continues to be a major concern that we’ll have a good chance to actually update the document.” ” This is what’s concerning, is that if you do n’t operate according to the established rules, and you just kind of do what you want, there’s no fairness”.

Perkins said he believes that any adjustments may be concealed by the new approach.

” Congress controlled by the Left wanted to silence criticism and prevent individuals from bringing modifications to the surface and completely debating plan,” the statement read. That’s what the departed does”, Perkins said. ” But now we see the Republican Party acting similarly.”

Walter said she believes that the RNC and Trump campaign have operated on stories because they have closed the system selection process to outside organizations. &nbsp,

It is unclear how to get to the council and committee meetings with a host move, according to Ullman, and the council and committee meetings are closed to the media. &nbsp,

Tom McClusky is representing CatholicVote at the trials. He claimed that this is the first time he may recall that inside organizations are prohibited from being able to join the program council or departments and that he trained under Phyllis Schlafly and has worked on the RNC program since 2004. &nbsp,

” Outside groups are n’t going to be allowed into the committee process or subcommittee process, which is extremely troubling because that’s typically where the pro-life language has been refined and protected,” said McClusky. ” I’m not optimistic about the activities they are taking, especially preventing any outside organizations from taking the system,” I said. I think good things do n’t happen behind closed doors”.

He added that this year, one of the product’s well-known artists is uninterested.

” Each person has written the system every year since 1980, with the exception of 2004.” He’s never involved. That is really troubling”, McClusky said. ” And 2004 was likely the worst program we’ve had since 1980″.

McClusky said he has not seen any system speech, so is not certain the course of recent debate. &nbsp,

The plan includes a number of reputable pro-lifers, including some who are involved with this project, according to McClusky.

    A’ Streamlined’ Software

The Trump plan requested a” streamlined app in line with President Trump’s principled and common vision for America’s potential” in a letter from Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles to the system committee on June 27.

” It is incumbent upon us to ensure our policy commitments to the American people are clear, concise, and easily digestible for every voter”, reads the memo, obtained by The Federalist. Working with the Platform Committee of the Republican National Convention will help us pass a platform called” America First” that will guide and steer our party and, in fact, our country.

According to Ullman, the Trump campaign seems to be directing platform proceedings. &nbsp,

” It seems that people inside the Trump campaign are calling the shots to the RNC, which conveys it to the delegates,” according to Ullman. &nbsp,

On Monday, Tony Perkins, president of Family Research Council Action and a delegate to the platform committee, wrote RNC Chair Michael Whatley to object to a “gag rule on deliberations,” which he claimed “restricts access to the deliberations of the various committees and subcommittees to only the credentialed delegates of those committees.”

This Gag Rule does not reflect the views of President Trump, who has been the target of these kinds of Left-style tactics that seek to silence their allies. Nothing can be more un- American”, Perkins wrote. The RNC gag rule “highs the possibility that the GOP platform will be reduced to a few pages of meaningless, poll-tested talking points”

McClusky stated that although it appears the RNC will shorten its platform, how much will it actually shorten it.

” If they’re talking about shortening it to one page, I think that’s a problem because then you’re a party that does n’t really stand for anything”, McClusky said. ” I think the last platform was 60 pages. If they wanted to make that 30 pages, I would n’t argue with that”.

McClusky said he thinks it might be an attempt to appeal to more voters if the RNC slashes or eliminates pro-life provisions from its platform.

” I understand why they’re cautious. They may not believe pro-life to be a winner at this time, in their opinion, McClusky said. The Republican Party is the party of life, as it has been since 1980, and we work to spread a culture that celebrates life.

    Conservative Groups Respond

A conservative nonprofit called Advancing American Freedom wrote in a letter to RNC convention delegates on July 1 that there are rumors that” some in the party want to wash their hands of the fight for life.”

” With rumors of secret, closed- door meetings and some in the party wishing to weaken our pro- life positions, we felt the need to directly address this issue”, the release reads. We ask that you vote down any platform that undermines the party’s commitment to the cause of life.

Susan B. Anthony Pro- Life America issued a press release July 2, saying it has been seeking assurances that the Trump campaign would not “gut” the platform’s pro- life provisions.

No guarantees have been made regarding the platform committee meeting, which is scheduled for two business days. Every indication is that the campaign will maneuver through changes that will occur behind closed doors, according to SBA President Marjorie Dannenfelser in the release. It would be a mistake if the Trump campaign decided to remove the unborn’s protections from the GOP platform, which would hurt party unity and undermine pro-life enthusiasm.

The FRC announced the same day a” Platform Integrity Project” to maintain pro- life, pro- family, and pro- Israel positions in the RNC platform. Groups involved include the American Principles Project, Faith Wins, Family Policy Alliance, Liberty Counsel Action, and Wallbuilders. &nbsp,

In the release, Perkins wrote,” The message to the platform committee delegates is clear: preserve life and family values in the Republican Party platform so that social conservatives can continue to find a home in the GOP.” &nbsp,

    Potential Consequences

The RNC platform will likely go public Sunday night, according to McClusky. He claimed any delays would raise more issues. According to Perkins, recent procedural changes could result in delays.

According to McClusky,” they release it on Sunday night so that the delegates can read through it and make any necessary changes.” The fix is in place if they decide not to give it until Monday morning.

McClusky compared the platform to a” Jenga” game, where players try to keep a tower upright while removing planks from it.

” You start taking away those Jenga pieces”, McClusky said,” and eventually the pro- life movement is going to catch on that we’re not welcome here” .&nbsp,

Perkins claimed that this platform change will not make campaign efforts harder for the pro-life base, but it will make them turn out to vote for Democrats.

” It dampens enthusiasm, where people are not as motivated to make phone calls, knock on doors and talk to their friends”, Perkins said. ” They’re spending time answering questions,’ Why did the party do this? What’s going on?’ So instead of spending their time in a positive way, it’s on the defensive” .&nbsp,

Trump won 2016 in part because of his pro- life stance, with more than 80 percent of what Pew Research described as “white, born- again/evangelical Christians” — and the majority of other self- identifying Christians — voting for him, according to Pew Research.

Trump may be changing his message to appeal to more moderate voters in a post-Dobbs America, but he runs the risk of losing support from the electorate that was instrumental in his election victory.
