On Wednesday, Canada appointed a girl as its first female best man. On July 18, Lieutenant General Jennie Carignan will take over the position of chief of the security team, leading efforts to end discrimination and wrongdoing in the military forces, according to Reuters.
” Over the course of her job, her extraordinary leadership features, commitment to excellence, and commitment to service have been a great asset to our Armed Forces”, Canada PM Justin Trudeau said in a statement.
Carignan assumes command at a crucial time as Canada is under increasing international pressure to spend more money on defence. The armed forces are having to work harder to recruit newcomers and have n’t updated their equipment.
