As authorities look to develop a contentious software to help migrant families staying in city-funded hotels, more than 7,300 migrants are expected to receive debit cards for food and baby items over the course of the month.

The development will cost about$ 2.6 million, and there will be many more immigrants than the 3, 000 who initially participated.

Despite criticism that the town should never invest money in illegal immigrants while other funds issues persist, the agency’s reinforcement comes as a result. New York City’s government&nbsp, previously projected it would spend at least$ 10.6 billion on migrants by the summer of 2025 and$ 2 billion this budget cycle.

Individuals are given payment cards with a four-week, one-day income. For a family of four with two children under 5 years old, the cards are loaded with$ 350 a week, according to city officials. &nbsp,

By using these cards, the area is giving new individuals the ability to choose for themselves and their children. They can get from nearby shops, support small businesses, and maintain their own assets”, Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services Anne Williams- Isom said in a statement.

Mayor Eric Adams has defended the programme, saying,” We’re not giving people National Express cards”.

We discovered that the food delivery service we established during the crisis was ineffective because we believed we wanted to reduce the cost of 20 % of the immigrant immigration. So we have a captain task where 500 people are given food cards so instead of having to provide food and have people take it themselves, they are now able to get their own food, which is going to be spent$ 12 per day, he said.

The software provides migrants with 40 % more in benefits than older New Yorkers receive in SNAP benefits for low-income people.

As a wave of refugees has arrived in New York City over the past two years, there are over 60, 000 workers in the state’s treatment.

The area just passed its funds, which indicated it plans to spend$ 4.3 billion between governmental 2022- 2023 and 2025- 2026 for “emergency paying related to people seeking asylum in the United States”.
