Every year, on the 4th of July, Louis Armstrong celebrated his day. WKCR, a college radio station at Columbia University, began removing his song from its airways and playing his songs for 24 right hours during his life. Ensconced in his home in Corona, Queens, Pops loved it. In an ordinary home, in an ordinary location, lived one of the most amazing players in the history of American music.  ,

He was born in New Orleans and had one of the most difficult background imaginable. Maybe he had to use garbage is crumbs to serve himself. His father was gone like thunder at his baby, and, like many children in the dark area to this day, he ended up with his mother. When he got a brooch from a pawn shop, his existence changed, as did the future of American music. Decades later, he switched to the horn.
How destructive was his first life? After Louis’s death, historians, those spoilsports, dug into his background and learned things that even he did n’t know. In the words of one of his biographers, Laurence Bergreen,” According to his own respected history, Louis Armstrong was an many- American music child, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on the Fourth of July 1900. He held this to be the end of his time, just like everyone else, until a rosary certificate confirming his exact birth time of August 4, 1901, surfaced, which silenced one of the most fervent mythology in American popular music in the name of scholarship.  ,
According to the ritual of the Roman Catholic Church, precisely three months after his baby, the baby was taken to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 139 South Lopez Street for baptism. ” The rosary cards, signed by the Reverend J. M. Toohey, described Louis as” delta, illegitimus, “apparently because his father had by that day abandoned his mother and was living with another person. So it was that Louis Armstrong, an illicit black kid, was baptized into the Catholic Church.
If you ever explore Armstrong’s tomb in Flushing Cemetery, where he is buried along with his beloved wife, Lucille, you will also get the bad time there as well. A couple’s marriage was best summed up by a tale Dan Morgenstern tells about Louis and Lucille. When Louis said,” Do you want to come visit Lucille with me?,” he and Dan were together in between shows. I’d like to give her a gallon of ice cream. ” So they went up to Harlem, and her mother let them in. Then they sat around the house tables and enjoyed a wonderful conversation. The single person to consume any of the ice cream was Louis, Dan recalls. Louis looked up to the heavens as the front entrance to the townhouse closed when they left. Is n’t she great? “he cried out”. I’m the luckiest person alive. He then performed a dance twirl by placing his index hand on the top of his head.  ,

Pops was a great singer with a great voice and was both a singer. He had a strong devotion to his followers. As he put it“, The folks put me in my chair, and I will never let them down. ” Armstrong was a fan of theater. His bugle sounds like an aria from a direct opera singer, as his trumpet sounds if you listen. I envy a friend of mine who witnessed Satchmo perform at a party at the Naval Academy. My companion married the girl he brought that evening, and, yes, they lived happily ever after. I hope you all find this to be the same.
, Have a wonderful, true Fourth of July.
