WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden wrote a defiant letter on Monday to Democratic lawmakers, insisting that he is “firmly committed to staying in the ( Presidential ) race”, amid rising clamor in the party and beyond asking him to bow out.
Although he is being urged by a growing number of lawmakers, fat-cat donors, and gathering activists to start the race if they have support from the party’s ranks, Biden is now challenging them to do so.
” If any of these guys do n’t think I should run, run against me… Go ahead, announce for president. Challenge me at the convention”, an angry Biden raged in a phone- in to MSNBC’s Morning Joe, a sympathetic platform, saying” I do n’t care what those big names think”, and talk of turfing him out is “driving me nuts”.
In a letter to party lawmakers, Biden stated that he was aware of concerns being raised in different forums, but that he would never be running again if he did not genuinely believe he could defeat Donald Trump in 2024.
He said Democrat voters had spoken during the primaries, and it was their decision to include him run–” never the press, never the pundits, certainly the great donors”.
The President’s angry stand came shortly after some lawmakers reportedly told the party’s legislative leadership that Biden may step down. Despite only five politicians ‘ public requests for Biden to step down from the competition for president, it is said that those still supporting him are declining.
Biden may withdraw, and do it quickly, according to polls and prominent Democratic Party figures, so that the party can select a new challenger to Trump before the gathering convention in Chicago on August 19; this is in addition to the polls.
” Joe Biden has been a great president, but it’s time for him—in the interests of the America he thus plainly loves—to announce he did not run for re- election”, the writer Stephen King, a furious Trump critic, tweeted on Monday.
According to liberal media mogul Michael Moore, Biden’s withdrawal is the” cruelest form of elder abuse,” according to Moore, who is one of the demanders.
” That Thursday evening during the conversation, he was in incredible grief.” Every mental blunder in his head appeared to be shutting over. If this had been something that you really cared about, loved, embraced, what would you have done? Would you have genuinely permitted him to leave that level? Who would escort an 81-year-old onto any stage to debate a living creature at nine o’clock at night in a fight that would n’t come to an end until 10:42 p.m.? Moore said in a radio.
Although the statistics are waning, Biden still has followers. Many of them complained that the internet was giving a free pass to Trump, who had hardly been seen in people this year, despite the President’s daily movements being closely watched.
Biden himself took as shot at Trump, saying he ( Trump ) has n’t done anything in 10 days except for “riding around a golf cart in Mar- a- Lago with his wealthy friends”. Separately, his plan distributed a letter listing Biden’s participation in 15 public and private events since the discussion.
” I’m no running because of the wealthy people. I’m running for the British citizens. I beat Donald Trump last day, I’ll hit him this period”, an irritated President told MSNBC.
