The representative, Jorge Maldonado, was a officer based out of Eagle Pass in south-central Texas. Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX ), whose district includes Eagle Pass, also confirmed to the Washington Examiner on Wednesday evening that Maldonado had passed away.
The state has not yet made any information available about the cause of death. According to preliminary reports from two of the owner’s coworkers, Maldonado passed away while at work.
However, a explanation was provided to the Washington Examiner on Thursday night that stated the death’s cause had not yet been determined.
In a event for Border Patrol agents who just received their diplomas as emergency medical technicians, the town of Eagle Pass featured Maldonado in a Twitter post in 2020.
U. S. Customs and Border Protection, the governmental agency that oversees the Border Patrol, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
On Wednesday, a secret Facebook page for Eagle Pass officials posted information about Maldonado’s passing, with users commenting to show their condolences to the area.
