A person dangled a child off a two-story resort ledge to “scare him”, therefore dropped the boy deep, Florida officials said.
The baby sustained blunt force trauma, and presently 31-year-old Brandon Gilmore is charged with aggravated child abuse, according to the Daytona Beach Police Department.
Volusia County prosecutor records do not have his lawyer information.
Gilmore met the child’s family at the resort pool just about five days before Saturday’s incident, police wrote in an arrest affidavit.
Gilmore and the mother discussed getting piercings up, and he was invited to her hotel area, he told police, according to the petition.
He claimed he had “scare him a little bit” and would take the child onto the balcony to play, according to police.
He is seen carrying the baby in his hands as he left the hotel room, according to security footage from around 7:30 p.m. According to police, he then allegedly dangled the kid over the edge while holding the child by one foot on the ledge.
Witnesses said they heard the baby cry before the guy dropped him, according to authorities.
The boy, who police said was under the age of 5, was taken to a hospital as a trauma alert because of the” seriousness” of his fall, investigators said. Authorities did not disclose the boy’s present state.
Daytona Beach is on Florida’s Mediterranean coast, about a 55-mile drive east from Orlando.
