
An American man who had vanished 22 years ago in Peru’s Andes hills after being buried in an avalanche was found frozen in the ocean.
American climber Bill Stampfl was reportedly buried by an deluge 22 years ago with two friends while attempting to climb one of the Andes ‘ highest mountains. Prior to the subsequent discovery, Stampfl’s family had small hope of finding him or recovering his body from the snow and ice sheets that span the 6, 700-meter-tall Huascaran top.
According to The Associated Press, Bill Stampfl’s child, Joseph Stampfl, received a call from a man who claimed to have found his father’s frozen figure as he climbed the Huascaran peak in June.
” It was so out of left field. We talk about my uncle, we think about him all the moment”, Joseph Stampfl said. You always believe you will receive that call, they say.
” It’s been a shock”, Jennifer Stampfl, Bill Stampfl’s child, added. Your heart really sinks when you hear that he has been found. You do n’t know how exactly to feel at first”.
According to The Associated Press, Colombian police announced on Tuesday that Bill Stampfl’s figure had been recovered from the hills. The preserved body was placed on a bed and carried down the mountain by police and mountain instructions.
Due to the mountain’s snow and freezing temperatures, Peru’s authorities claimed Stampfl’s system and clothes were preserved. In addition to his garments, Stampfl’s pilot’s license was recovered inside a pocket.

The recovery efforts began last year, according to The Associated Press, after an British man found Stampfl’s frozen system. After discovering Stampfl’s pilot’s license, the man was able to call Stampfl’s family, who next contacted local hill guides.
Joseph Stampfl explained that the home coordinated the healing procedure with a Chilean mountain rescue organization. Five police officers and eight rock instructions were involved in the recovery operation, and the man’s brain was afterwards recovered about 1,200 feet below the location where Bill Stampfl and his two companions were thought to have been killed.
According to The Associated Press, Lenin Alvardo, one of the officers officials involved in the operation, explained that Stampfl’s clothing remained mostly intact. In addition to the driver’s license, a camera, a pair of glasses, a voice recorder, and two$ 20 charges were discovered in Stampfl’s pocket. Stampfl’s silver wedding band was also found on his left hand.
