The US Department of Agriculture ( USDA ) has announced a recall of over 2, 000 pounds of frozen ready-to-eat chicken products due to potential listeria contamination, as reported by Fox News. The recall was initiated by Al Safa US LLC, a Canada-based supplier, after fears arose that the meat skewers and sandwiches may include the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, which is responsible for causing listeriosis.
On June 5, the damaged chicken products were produced in Canada and afterward imported into the country.
The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service ( FSIS ) said in their Friday announcement that Al-Safa US LLC, located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, recalled 2, 010 pounds of their product.
During a regular product assessment session conducted by FSIS, the potential leakage was identified, with results indicating the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. The frozen goods recalled keep the establishment range “866” inside the French level of examination and were made on June 5, 2024, in Canada. On June 13 and June 21, they were finally imported into the US, where they were then shipped to stores all over the country.
