After prosecution and defense attorneys spent hours questioning dozens of prospective jurors before choosing the board that will ultimately determine the writer’s fate, the involuntary murder trial for Alec Baldwin is scheduled to start on Wednesday.
After a moment of questioning at the Santa Fe County District Courthouse on Tuesday night, 12 jurors and four switches were seated. The judge consists of five people and eleven people.
Baldwin, who was  , indicted by a great jury , in , January, has pleaded not guilty to the criminal charge stemming from the Oct. 21, 2021, accidental shooting during the filming of the northern video” Rust”. The show’s 42-year-old director Halyna Hutchins died that day from the gun wound.
On Tuesday, the 66-year-old actor-producer sat intently at the defense table, often making information on a paper plate. He was flanked by people of his legitimate group who, along with lawyers, faced a big pool of potential judges.

The stakes are high. If found guilty, Baldwin was spent up to 18 months in prison. The goal might have a significant impact on his career. Since the horror, Baldwin has claimed to have lost acting jobs. Aldwin was unaware that the gun he was carrying at the time of the training contained live ammunition.
Tuesday’s conference began with 70 prospective jury ushered into an assembly room. Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer, the panel’s primary Judicial District Court Judge, sworn in as the panel’s opening act. She called the defendant’s involuntary manslaughter charge a “negligent usage of a firearm” and described it as a “negligent usage of a firearm.”
Jurors were questioned about how well-versed in the event they were. All but three raised their hands.
Special prosecutor Kari T. Morrissey, who has spearheaded the event on behalf of the local city attorney, wanted to know whether judges worked in the movie business, had” strong feelings about weapon” or possessed a concealed arms permit. She requested that they evaluate whether they could become fair and impartial.
Baldwin’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, asked if it would be hard for judges to make decisions without pity for the court’s horrible parts. He even wanted to know if any potential jurors “had an problem” with authorities.
The actor has claimed that he was not in charge of Hutchins ‘ death. He claims that he relied on the on-set experts in charge of health, including assistant director David Halls and film specialist Hannah Gutierrez.
Gutierrez, who , was found guilty of spontaneous manslaughter , in March, loaded the gun the moment Hutchins died. Halls consented to a plea deal that required him to pay no contest to using a lethal weapon while in good standing. He received a suspended six-month word of supervision.
A number of potential jurors criticized Spiro’s theory, saying that weapon customers should check their own weapons. One person vehemently opposed the idea of relying on authorities.
” It does n’t take a brain scientist to make sure a gun is real and loaded”, he said. A few minutes after, another judge said he was always taught to” address any weapon, real or fake, as a loaded gun”.
Researchers predict the eight-day test could be the most-publicized criminal trial in New Mexico’s 112-year story.
Over 40 journalists from various media outlets and broadcast networks gathered in another court on Tuesday to watch the jury selection via closed-circuit television.
The judge ruled on Monday that the prosecution could not raise a question during Baldwin’s trial because he also worked as a manufacturer for the movie. The blacksmith was struggling with her tasks overseeing the guns, according to the prosecution, and that he should have been partly responsible for maintaining a healthy work environment.
Production of the movie finished in Montana last year, but” Rust” does n’t have a release date. Manufacturers have stated that they hope to make” Rust” available at a major film festival, but for the time being, the legal proceedings have hampered its chances.
