    Gas prices: Costs soar with second straight day of increases

    The average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline is still rising for the next right time, increasing the cost of gasoline. The most modest decline experienced by Americans over the July 4th trip is negated by the most recent rises. Costs are currently less than a quarter less than they were last year.

    The average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline increased to$ 3.538 on Wednesday, rising nearly two cents in 24 hours, according to AAA. On Tuesday, the average rate for a gallon of regular gasoline was$ 3.519. On Monday and Sunday, a gallon of regular gasoline price$ 3.506.

    Gas costs more now than it did a month ago, when gas was$ 3. 4 per gallon.

    Mississippi had the cheapest gas prices for a gallon of regular gas on Wednesday, at$ 3.005—rising above$ 3 for the first time in weeks. Meanwhile, California had the country’s most expensive gas on Wednesday, at$ 4.784.

    Here are the fuel costs for a quart of regular-grade oil in and around Washington, D. C., and a few different state.

    Washington, D. C.

    The average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.712 in the nation’s capital on Wednesday. This was an increase from Tuesday’s price of $3.709 per gallon. A week ago, regular gas was $3.69 per gallon in Washington, D. C., and a month ago, it was $3.683.

    Virginia

    On Wednesday, the average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia was$ 3.467. This was an increase from Tuesday’s average price of$ 3.441 per gallon. A week ago, regular-grade fuel was$ 3.374 per gallon in Virginia. A month ago, it was$ 3.342, and last year at this time, a gallon of regular gas was$ 3.342.

    Maryland

    On Wednesday, Maryland’s average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline was$ 3. 618. This was a little increase from today’s cost of$ 3.59. A week ago, the price for regular oil was$ 3.579 per quart. People in Maryland were paying$ 3.53 for a gallon of regular gasoline a month earlier. The average price for a gallon of regular gas last year was$ 3. 574.

    Pennsylvania

    On Wednesday, the average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Pennsylvania was$ 3.696. This was an increase from Tuesday’s average price of$ 3.688 per gallon. A week ago, regular-grade oil was$ 3.662 per gallon in the Keystone State. A month ago, it was$ 3.672.

    New Jersey

    On Wednesday, the average cost in New Jersey was$ 3.50 for a gallon of regular-grade gas. This was an increase from Tuesday’s average price of$ 3.487 per gallon. A week ago, regular-grade oil was$ 3.458 per gallon in the Garden State. A month ago, it was$ 3.432.
