In 2020, a group of leftist academics, politicians, and journalists, augmented by Republicans afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome, came together under the name the” Transition Integrity Project” ( TIP-2020 ) to produce a report. John Podesta, the former head of the Clinton White House, Michael Steele, the former head of the Republican National Committee, Jennifer Granholm, the previous governor of Michigan, and Michael Steele, the former head of the electricity department.
TIP-2020 was an expanded brainstorming session where a terribly mirror-imaging left dreamed about situations where President Trump did not admit defeat and use amazing, unlawful, and violent means to remain in office.
What happened, of training, was a confused crowd descending on a Capitol that was almost undefended, thanks to Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s issue for optics— scarcely the stuff of a powerful coup.
Revealingly, the TIP-2020 team themselves admitted to the likelihood of violence on the left aimed at influencing the election, with page 9 of their report noting,” Team Biden almost always called for and relied on mass protests…”
However, TIP-2020 made it clear that an incumbent president poses the greatest threat to an orderly transition of power following an election. TIP-2020 was blinded by the fact that the left is more ideologically inclined to interpret elections as existential, so “defending democracy” necessitates opposition to former President Trump whenever necessary.
This has led to a number of unheard legal cases against Trump. Campaigning has supplanted activism as the preferred method of winning an election.
In response to this concern, Professor Adam Ellwanger suggested that conservatives create their own Transition Integrity Project in the spring. In order to maintain Biden’s hold on power, Ellwanger understood that, in contrast to Trump, his team was much more likely to take a serious stance on using illegal means.
Identifying Likely Post-Election Threats
In fact, Mike Howell was a member of the Coming Border Crisis simulation I created and led in December 2020, which accurately predicted the chaos that Biden’s policies would cause on the border. Howell contacted me and asked me to create an academic exercise that would use the rigor of military war gaming to simulate how the 2024 election might feature unprecedented efforts to win back an election loss.
The end result was a 10-day task that was finished on June 21. It brought together 50 experts, including a former Democratic U. S. senator, former high-ranking federal officials, retired military and law enforcement officers, attorneys, journalists, and academics in the Transition Integrity Project 2024 ( TIP-2024 ).
The what-ifs that will emerge from the upcoming campaign season through the post-election certification period were the subject of two simultaneous academic exercises conducted by TIP-2024.
The main takeaway from the effort is that the incumbent president always poses the greatest threat to a peaceful and routine transition of presidential power.
We conducted these exercises in order to inform the general public about potential disruptions and threats to the upcoming presidential election. The team role-played various scenarios set against a backdrop of significant domestic and international issues, including inflation, mass illegal immigration, ongoing conflicts in Ukraine, escalating tensions from a bellicose China, and more.
The simulations conducted by TIP-2024 revealed four main dangers to a free and fair election and a peaceful power transition:
Lawfare: The use of the United States Department of Justice to assert voting rights violations at the state level, possibly resulting in a state-level interference in the certification of election results.
Terrorism: Use of organized domestic violence to avert election law compliance by local and state officials.
Information Shaping: Legacy and social media operations to make sure the public has access to the official version of reality.
Federal Law Enforcement: Federal law enforcement used to arrest opponents of the regime.
These scenarios made it clear that the current administration has significant tools available to obstruct the election process. The Biden administration, like any other incumbent administration, is well-positioned to leverage governmental power to influence the election outcome. To thwart opposition and manipulate the information environment, federal agencies and law enforcement are used.
An Administration Willing to Defy the Constitution
From border policies to routine court rulings, the Biden administration has consistently shown a willingness to defy constitutional boundaries and norms. This raises questions about how they might use executive power to maintain control, especially given that they contend that the opposition poses a threat to democracy.
A recent poll found that more than half of Americans believe that Trump is more trustworthy than Biden in terms of self-government protection. This disapproval of the current administration’s intentions adds to the need for vigilantness and preparation for potential election delays.
TIP-2024’s exercises provide a roadmap for understanding and anticipating these threats. They stress the importance of ensuring a peaceful transition of power and securing the election process. TIP-2024 key recommendations are:
Keep watch against lawfare: It is crucial to recognize politically motivated legal actions as a form of election interference and to vigorously challenge them in court.
To maintain public trust, intelligence and law enforcement decisions should be transparent and free of ideological bias.
Secure the electoral process: States must uphold the laws and precedents in place, making sure that all voter-eligibility and identification laws are strictly upheld.
Prepare for peaceful demonstrations in public places: Proactive demonstrations defending constitutionality and fair elections should be planned to combat procedural violations.
Expect and counter disinformation: Public awareness and accurate information dissemination should be a strategy to counteract attempts by foreign adversaries to tamper with the election.
The lessons from TIP-2024’s exercises are clear. The incumbent and his administration pose the greatest threat to a peaceful transition of power.
As we approach the 2024 election, it is imperative to remain vigilant, uphold the rule of law, and ensure that the voice of the American people is heard and respected.
