” Yeah, you know, one thing we have been hearing so frequently since that CNN debate was how frightened Democrats across the board were by the president’s performance and seeing him get thus halting and dazed at times on that conversation level. You know, we talk to a lot of people who said,’ Of course, we know that he has aged. Of course, we had seen some signs, particularly over the last year of his reduction in terms of his physical strength, his intellectual clarity,'” Lee explained.
According to these Democrats, the Biden they saw on stage at the argument was “basically unidentifiable” and that” a lot of frustration and the responsible is being placed on the inner circle of advisers and family members around the president,” according to Lee. What these people claim is this actually meticulously choreographed and stage-managed normal operations at the White House around the president that is set up specifically to reduce the public from frequently seeing the president in these extended, spontaneous settings.

And one of the books we spoke with that many of them are so upset about is the notion that when people speak to these inner circle of advisers around the president, these concerns are not taken seriously or completely ignored.
One influential Democrat once said this to me. They said: Everyone who expresses any level of suspicion or contrary views, they call everyone and , they beat the s**t out of them and say’ stay on message.’
Now, the source of a lot of this controversy is not just the inner circle of advisers. It is also members of the president’s family who, of course, have been up there, are really standing by the president’s decision to so far stay in this race. ( Emphasis added )

Tapper asked. ” Because it’s a barrage of a governor, a senator, a House member, and it’s pretty typical, none of them saying, yes, he’s the best candidate for us to keep the White House, not one of them saying– I mean, they’re being as polite as they can be really. Is there any sense inside the White House or the Biden campaign that they are hearing what is being blatantly implied in public?

” I mean, we got an extensive response from the White House to our story defending the breadth of the president’s recent travels, his engagements with the press, certainly his record in the first three-and-a-half years in office”, Lee told Tapper. ” They also provided comments from senior officials in the administration, basically saying the president is sharp”.
