President Joe Biden’s plan for re-election in 2024 has been urged by Democrat Jim Himes and 16 different leading Democrats to withdraw from the race for president. Following Biden’s abruptly limiting debate performance against his Republican challenger Donald Trump, which raised questions in his party about his ongoing candidacy.
President Biden addressed reporters ‘ issues following a highly anticipated single press conference held on Thursday night at the Nato conference in Washington, DC. Biden asserted his health to serve as president both now and for the next four years despite the mounting pressure and stated his resolve to stay in the race.
Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., voiced his problems soon after the media event. ” Joe Biden’s history of public support is unsurpassed”, Himes posted on X. ” His contributions are enormous. His presidency as a great leader is safe. He may not take the chance of maintaining that reputation, those accomplishments, and American democracy in the face of the horrors that Donald Trump has promised.
The growing criticism and pushback against Biden’s election have focused on his time and performance.

- Senator Peter Welch wrote in an opinion piece for the Washington Post,” I’m calling on President Biden to withdraw from the race for the good of the country.” Welch was the first Democrat US senator to request that Biden resign as a member.
- Agent Eric Sorensen, who represents a district in Illinois, said in a statement posted on X that it is more crucial than ever that our relatives have a candidate for president who will talk a good perspective to everyone in this country. ” I’m hopeful that President Biden did step down from his campaign for president.”
- Representative Scott Peters:” I request that President Biden step down from the battle. The stakes are high, and we are on a losing lessons. In a speech cited by some media outlets, Peters, who represents a district in California, said,” My conscience requires me to talk up and put loyalty to the state and to politics before my great passion for, and fidelity to, the President and those around him.”
- Official Jim Himes:” The 2024 vote will determine the future of American politics, and we must set forth the strongest prospect possible to fight the danger posed by Trump’s promised MAGA authoritarianism. I no longer feel that is Joe Biden”, Himes, who represents a district in Connecticut, wrote in a speech posted on X.
- Official Greg Stanton:” For the sake of American politics, and to continue to make progress on our shared priorities, I believe it is time for the President to step off as our nominee”, Stanton, who represents a region in the crucial state of Arizona, said in a statement.
- Rep. Ed Case:” I’m guiding our country on the best course of action.” I do not believe President Biden should continue his candidacy for re-election as President”, Case, of Hawaii, said in a statement.
- Representative Brad Schneider:” I love President Biden. For serving our country and leading him, I will always be grateful. The time has come, however, for President Biden to heroically pass the torch to a new generation of leadership to guide us to the future he has enabled and empowered us to pursue”, Schneider, of Illinois, said in a statement.
- Representative Hillary Scholten:” For the good of our democracy, I believe it is time for him to step aside from the presidential race and allow a new leader to step up”, Scholten, of Michigan, said on social media. The “most important candidate” must be at the top of the ballot in order for us to win and rule.
- Representative Earl Blumenauer:” The question is up to the people of this country whether or not the president should continue to run for re-election. This is not just about extending his presidency but protecting democracy”, Blumenauer, who represents a district in Oregon, said in a statement. While this is up to the president and the first lady, I hope they will decide that I and others have a problem: President Biden should n’t be the Democratic nominee for president.”
- Representative Pat Ryan:” Joe Biden is a patriot but is no longer the best candidate to defeat Trump,” Ryan, who won the seat in the general election months later, wrote in a social media post.
- Representative Mikie Sherrill:” Because I know President Biden cares deeply about the future of our country, I am asking that he declare that he wo n’t run for re-election and will help lead us through a process toward a new nominee”, Sherrill, of New Jersey, said in a statement.
- Representative Adam Smith, of Washington state, said in a statement that” President Biden should end his bid for a second term as president and release his delegates to the Democratic National Convention so that the party can nominate a new leader.” The American people have made it clear that they no longer believe the President is a credible candidate to serve four more years in office, and the President’s performance in the debate was alarming to watch.
- Representative Angie Craig: Craig was the first incumbent from a highly competitive district to demand that Biden step down. His district in Minnesota is regarded as a top priority for Republicans to win back in November. I do n’t think the president can effectively campaign and defeat Donald Trump, according to Craig, who said that given what I heard and heard from the president during the debate last week in Atlanta and the lack of a strong response from the president himself following that debate.
