Amid intense heat, more than one million southeast&nbsp, Texas people have been without electricity for four days&nbsp, following Hurricane Beryl’s effect on the Gulf Coast.

The Category 1 hurricane, which made land Monday, has &nbsp, left about 1.3 million homes and businesses without power, &nbsp, resulting in risky and sometimes dangerous circumstances as people struggle to find essential sources, reported CNN.

As many stores are still closed, Houston City Councilman Julian Ramirez told the outlet that food businesses and other public companies are working round the clock to deliver food to underprivileged areas.

As people use generators to cool their homes, the persistent outages have also increased the number of cases of carbon monoxide poisoning. According to Harris County authorities, at least two incidents and over 200 calling for carbon monoxide poisoning were reported in only 24 hours.

However, heat have reached 90 levels in Houston, with a heat score of up to 106 levels.

Fire Chief Samuel Pea noted the potentially fatal conditions for those without sufficient cooling, and that nine flames stations in Houston have had to shut and travel as a result of a lack of generators, yet as emergency calls pour in.

Governor Greg Abbott has since&nbsp, called for an inspection into CenterPoint Energy, the major energy company in Houston.

Abbott told Bloomberg TV from Asia, where he is still on an economic growth goal,” What I’m going to be doing right away is instructing the Public Utility Commission to conduct an instant study to find out why this is frequently happening in Houston, Texas.” ” They should not be losing energy”.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who is serving as governor in Abbott’s position for the time being, spoke during a Thursday press conference and added,” I’m sure we will find that there are items they may have done better”.
