
K P Sharma Oli, who will succeed him as Nepal’s new prime minister, met with his ally companion, the Nepali Congress, on Saturday to discuss the list of ministers to be incorporated into the new coalition government, which is expected to take its oath of office on Monday. On Sunday, President Ram Chandra Paudel is scheduled to appoint Oli, 72, as the new leader of the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist ( CPN-UML)- Nepali Congress (NC ) coalition.

Deuba and Oli have already had initial discussions about the new coalition’s modality and power-sharing, but the decision will be finalized by Saturday night.
Deuba and Oli had agreed to take over the position of Prime Minister by rotating orders at a critical conference last week, and the CPN-UML main may serve as the government’s leader for the next 18 months.
Rastriya Prajatantra Party and various smaller parties are likely to support the NC-UML alliance in addition to CPN-Maoist, CPN-Unified Socialist, and Rastriya Swotantra Party, which both had voted in favor of Prachanda during the surface test.
Also, smaller parties such as Janata Samajwadi Party ( JSP), JSP Nepal, Janamat Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party and Lokatantrik Samajwadi Party are likely to join the Oli-led coalition, according to party sources.
Prachanda, 69, chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Centre ( CPN-MC), faced the trust vote as CPN-UML withdrew support from his government last week after inking a power-sharing deal with the largest party in the House, the NC.
Prachanda lost the confidence vote, receiving only 63 out of the 275 HoR members ‘ 194 vote against the action. To get the vote of confidence, at least 138 votes are required.
Nepal’s history of political unrest is documented in the country’s 14 governments since the introduction of the Democratic system in the last 16 years.
