President Joe Biden is seated on a massive battle war chest, which he inherited from another Democrats who might be considering running for president.
The embattled president even admitted publicly on Thursday that others in his party may fight Donald Trump in response to some Democratic lawmakers ‘ calls for him to withdraw from the race over concerns about his mental health and endurance.
Importantly, however, Biden was careful to avoid naming brands during a high-profile prime-time media event.
” So a lot can happen, but … I believe I’m the best skilled to manage and I think I’m the best qualified to win”, Biden told reporters. ” But there are other individuals who could beat Trump, to”.
He then flipped in a warning to those who believe that the party may get a replacement nominee who would be the GOP nominee in the end rather than the former president.
” But it’s dreadful to commence … from scratch”, Biden said. ” And, you know, we talk about, you know, wealth raised. We’re certainly doing poor. We got about$ 220 million in the bank. And we’re doing well”.
During the question-and-answer program, which lasted nearly an hour, Biden opted against saying whether he believes his hand-picked vice president, Kamala Harris, had consider down Trump.
Biden said to investigators that he would not have chosen her in 2020 if he had determined that” she was not qualified to be president,” and that is how he responded to her in his second major error of the day. But he then changed and began to tout his personal perceived ability to defeat Trump.
” The fact is that, the concern is that I think I’m the most qualified person to run for leader”, Biden said. ” I beat him again, and I will conquer him again”.
Despite Biden’s more aggressive voice when asked about another Democrats likely running against Trump during an exam with , ABC News , that aired on July 5, the entrance stood in contrast to Biden’s more confrontational tone.
Anchor George Stephanopoulos, a former Bill Clinton secretary, asked him:” I understand that’s why you want to stay in the contest, but have you convinced yourself that only you can fight him”?
Biden replied:” I convinced myself of two things. I’m the most qualified people to conquer him, and I know how to find items done”, he said. About dropping over, he added,” It depends on … if the Lord Almighty comes along and tells me that, I might do that”.
The leader did not say whether or not he had any divine action since meeting with Stephanopoulos on Thursday. But the list of Democrat politicians urging him to bow out grew Friday when Colorado Rep. Brittany Pettersen , wrote , on social media platform X:” With deep appreciation and love, @joebiden choose move the torch”.
Just about 7 % of all House and Senate Democrats and independents who support them have urged Biden to leave the competition, according to the polls. Additionally, Biden has friends.
Rep. John Garamendi, D-Calif., on Friday called Biden the group’s “experienced player” who is best-positioned to get what he described as the” Super Bowl of votes”. But like other Democratic legislators, he was fast to wall during a CNN look, calling Harris “our experienced back quarterback”.
Just in case. After all, as Biden said Thursday:” The campaign really has n’t even started. … Most of the time, it does n’t start until after September, after Labor Day. But, a lot can happen”.
