K P Sharma Oli, the prime minister of Nepal, took the oath of office on Monday for the third day. The ceremony took place at Shital Niwas, the main house of the Rashtrapati Bhawan, under the leadership of President Paudel.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated his rival in a blog on X, saying,” Look forward to working closely to further reinforce the strong friendships between our two countries and to further increase our mutually beneficial assistance for the development and growth of our peoples.”
On Sunday, the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Socialist leader was chosen as the new prime minister.
This occurred after former prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’Pracchaanda ‘ was unable to secure a lot in the parliament’s floor test.
According to legal requirements, Oli had then request a vote of confidence from the congress within 30 days of his visit. In the 275-seat House of Representatives ( HOR ), he will need at least 138 votes.
With the support of NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba and 77 members of his party, 88 of the NC, Oli announced his candidacy for prime minister on Friday, initiating government formation under Article 76( 2 ) of the Constitution.
