Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, announced an inspection Wednesday into the “monumental safety loss” that enabled the July 13 death attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Grassley stated in a letter to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle and Department of Homeland Security Director Alejandro Mayorkas that” the lack of knowledge from your firms is undesirable.” You owe Congress and the American people perfect and unrestricted information about how this tragedy might happen.
Grassley wrote letters to the FBI, DHS, DHS, Department of Justice, and the Secret Service asking for “records and reactions” regarding the assassination attempt against Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, which left the former senator and two rallygoers injured and the death of one rallygoer.  ,
Biden’s security companies paved the way for the gunman to shoot Trump, as The Federalist and others have reported, by supposedly refusing to beef up his thinly stretched security team, diverting solutions to a nearby Jill Biden function the same day, excluding the would-be enemy’s article from the safety boundary, keeping law enforcement from the gunman’s blog because the building’s rooftop was” sloped“, and leaving a clear line of sight from the sniper to the former president.
Requesting documents from DHS and the Secret Service
It’s questionable when, if, or how these emails were communicated to Secret Service agents on duty, according to reports and photos from that day that indicate that testimony witnessed the shooter in progress and eventually on the roof and attempted to caution law enforcement officers of his place before he opened fire. ” I write today for information regarding whether USSS policies and procedures were followed before, during, and after the assassination attempt against former president Trump,” as well as how the USSS was or was not informed of the gunman’s position when multiple reports indicated that crowd members attempted to alert local law enforcement of the gunman’s location.
The Secret Service claims it added additional resources before the rally, but never specified what those were, according to Grassley’s letter.
To “put this matter to rest one way or the other, you must provide details with respect to what additional resources were added and when,” he wrote.
Grassley also explained in his letter “longstanding” concerns about the Secret Service, including previous issues with staffing, training, radios, and incident review. He requested a list of records for the agency’s actions on the day” so that Congress may conduct independent oversight regarding DHS and Secret Service.”
Additionally, Grassley demanded a copy of the Secret Service advance plan, which assesses risks and establishes the security perimeter for the rally, to find out whether” all requests for additional Secret Service resources to protect President Trump or his family have been received.” He requested” the names of all USSS supervisors who were in charge of approving and reviewing the security plan” and” the names of all Secret Service personnel who were present that day.”
” Was USSS alerted by state or local law enforcement, or members of the public that the
” Suspicious gunman was using a rifle to shoot from the top of the roof before going on.” he probed. Has the USSS conducted any interviews with those who showed up at the rally?
” I anticipate that your written reply and some responsive documents will be unclassified”, reads Grassley’s letter.
Grassley demanded that DHS and the Secret Service respond by July 23.
FBI and DOJ Averting Not to Stole Records
Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray were instructed to share their findings after the assassination attempt, according to Grassley’s letter, which he also sent to them on Tuesday. He instructed them to keep any pertinent records.
Grassley remarked that “in the past, Justice Department employees have destroyed records relating to the investigations they had worked on.” It is crucial that a thorough and in-depth investigation be conducted into this attack, and that the Congress be informed of the nature of the investigation and its conclusions.
Grassley requested a list of pertinent documents as well as answers to questions about whether the FBI had any knowledge of the threat in advance. The FBI and DOJ have until July 23 to respond.  ,
Urging Review by DHS Inspector General
Grassley wrote DHS Inspector General Joseph Cuffari on Tuesday, requesting a review of the Secret Service’s actions that day and requesting whether DHS has been withholding information.
Trump was within a centimeter of being killed because a gunman could have gotten close to 300 feet and in direct fire from his supporters, according to Grassley. It’s obvious that a comprehensive and thorough examination of this catastrophic security failure is required, despite ongoing investigations.
Cuffari must respond by Friday, according to Grassley.  ,
One day before Grassley’s letters, the U. S. House Oversight Committee, which had been investigating the Secret Service for months before the assassination attempt against Trump, similarly sent a letter to Cheatle. She was instructed to keep the necessary records and provide information by Thursday.
Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., will subpoena Cheatle to “head off any attempt by DHS to backtrack on her appearance” at her scheduled July 22 hearing, committee spokeswoman Jessica Collins announced Tuesday.
” Cheatle must answer to Congress and the American people about the historic error that took place under her watch,” Collins said.
