The disgruntled U.S. Secret Service chief has a chance to run, but she ca n’t hide from the organization’s fatal failures in the lead up to and the day of the attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump.  ,
U. S. Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., tells me that there must be consequences if Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle does n’t appear Monday before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee as ordered.  ,
” She’s summoned, and I did say if she does not show up, we bring her in — by force if necessary”, said Burchett, a part of the Oversight Committee.
Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., on Wednesday issued the summons to the obstinate Secret Service producer.  ,
Americans want accountability and transparency about the Secret Service’s failures that caused President Trump’s attempted assassination, but they do n’t want that from the Department of Homeland Security, according to Comer in a statement. Director Cheatle is required to answer a number of questions about the Secret Service’s ancient disappointment, and she will have to make an appearance before the House Oversight Committee the week before.
However, the Biden administration has n’t been very good at obeying congressional subpoenas, despite the Justice Department’s attempt to imprison conservatives for doing the same. ( See former Trump aide Steve Bannon and former Trump aide Peter Navarro. )
You’re Supposed to Protect the President, Right?
Republicans are requesting that Trump fire the deceptive security chief, but Cheatle has refused to do so. On Thursday, Mike Johnson, the speech, stated that he was “prepared” to demand that Cheatle be fired.  ,
Sens. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and Kevin Cramer, R-N. D., confronted Cheatle Wednesday night while she was on-site at the Republican National Convention in downtown Milwaukee. She resisted answering the senators ‘ concerns outside a Fiserv Forum hospitality set. Cheatle and some abruptly walk away from the senators at one place as it was captured on a film that has since since gone viral. The senators follow behind the Secret Service director, with Cramer catching up to her and telling her,” You answer to us” . ,
” There’s no shame. There’s no problem. You’re supposed to protect the president of the United States”, Barrasso says on the picture.  ,
Following a lecture from Cheatle and FBI Director Christopher Wray, Democratic lawmakers were angry. According to law enforcement officials, Cooke and Wray gave senators a timetable that extremely revealed that Secret Service sharpshooters first witnessed the gunman on the sloped top 20 minutes before his attempted murder, according to law enforcement sources.  ,
Shattered Faith
U. S. Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., whose swing position is hosting this year’s Republican National Convention, told me that just four politicians were allowed to cause inquiries, without follow-ups. He said the limited conference was filled with “gobbledygook” and “bureaucratic B. S”.  ,
” The chairman acknowledged that there were errors and errors. They followed a schedule but ignored the firing. Between the convention speeches, Johnson said on Thursday,” They did n’t provide any detail about when they found out about the shooter.”  ,
He worries that the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, which he chaired before Democrats took control of the Senate in 2021, wo n’t be able to provide answers and hold Biden administration officials accountable. Johnson said if he were president, he’d be calling in Secret Service agents at the image, especially the guns.  ,
He said,” I’d meeting them and record their testimony right away before thoughts fade.” ” We need to do that. In this regard, we need freedom. I have no power to do it, and that’s frustrating to me having been chairman” . ,
Previous acting head of Customs and Border Protection in the Trump presidency, Mark Morgan, is calling for the establishment of a bipartisan commission to investigate the assassination attempt. He claimed to Fox News Digital that the general public no longer trusts governmental agencies.
” Here’s the reality that we have to face for those of us who were in the past and even those who are currently working for these organizations. … America’s faith in the Department of Justice, the FBI, Congress, it has dropped dramatically the past few years. That’s just the reality”, Morgan, who served 20 years with the FBI, told the news channel this year. Biden has ordered an “independent” research. His FBI likewise is investigating.  ,
Morgan said he’d like to see Johnson direct the independent committee.  ,
Burchett said he is no holding his breath that Cheatle may appear at the Oversight Committee hearing on Monday. If she does, he’s suspicious the Secret Service director did answer inquiries.  ,
” If she had any dignity either, she had retire”, Johnson said.  ,
