According to the Department of Justice, a Sierra Leone person has been charged with allegedly smuggling” hundreds” of illegal immigrants into the United States via the southern border.
Abdul Karim Conteh, 42, of Sierra Leone, was charged with federal criminal activity and allegedly headed a human trafficking circle that brought people from various nations, including Western Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, to the United States.
Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a speech on Thursday that” we allege Abdul Karim Conteh and his firm smuggled thousands of migrants into the United States from more than a few different places”. The Justice Department will make sure that he is held responsible in an American courtroom because he has been detained for his alleged involvement in this talented, exploitative smuggling operation, according to the Justice Department.
Conteh was arrested in the northeastern Mexico border town of Tijuana, which companions San Diego, California, on July 11. He is undergoing an extradition to the United States.
Conteh has received compensation from the Treasury Department for profits made through his extensive contraband system. Conteh was accused of using “various furtive” illegal means to get people over the border, including by climbing stairs over border walls and through underground caverns, the Court stated.
Conteh, Roblero, and others have been charged with crime to bring workers into the U. S., which could result in up to 10 years in federal prison.
