This year’s Republican National Convention was a intoxicating, exciting event. Even with the disturbing recent memory of the attempt on Donald Trump’s life and other events that tugged at everyone’s heart, the atmosphere was electronic all week. It was n’t staid and repetitive like most party standards are.

It was n’t hard to miss the energy with celebrity guests, fiery speeches, and the appearance of “everyday people” with compelling stories. Yet a somewhat slack-as-Trump delivered an address that caused the house to fall.
It’s not just liberals noticing the enthusiasm, either. CNN’s Van Jones, an adviser to Barack Obama, made an interesting comparison between this week’s RNC and another key moment in history.
Van Jones, a former adviser to Barack Obama, claimed on Thursday that the power at the Republican National Convention was similar to what he witnessed when the country’s first black president was nominated for office in 2008.
Jones, then a CNN top political commentator, talked about the evident” nature” and joy he had experience among the people at the RNC.
After CNN contributor Scott Jennings spoke with excitement about wrestler Hulk Hogan, UFC head Dana White, and former President Donald Trump’s upcoming speeches at the RNC, Jones said,” This spirit that this guy]Jennings ] has, you guys think it’s because he’s drunk, he’s not, this whole thing is like this”.
” This was Obama 2008 the last time I attended a convention,” I recall. There’s everything happening”, he said.

That’s great compliments from someone like Jones, who pointed out,” Goals become flashbacks and nightmares become desires. You’re watching Donald Trump turn a dream into a desire. He has had a terrible summer with, you know, views and charges and all kinds of things, nearly got killed. It’s becoming a vision for him”.

Examine the Democrats and the RNC’s apparent energy to one another. Progressives running around like the Keystone Cops scrambling to dislodge the leader or keep him firmly in place have an almost comical feeling to the Biden reelection campaign. Jones also noticed the distinction:
Biden’s the same. The promise he made as a young man to stand up for this country and move it in a good path was truly fulfilled in the way that he had intended. He did succeed despite all those possibilities. He has done amazing items. He is an amazing person. But by holding on to much, it’s becoming a problem. And the sponsors who have written sizable checks for him, I mean the ones who are stepping up.
ASIDE:” Amazing” is an intriguing word to describe Biden. It’s flattering, but not in the manner Jones intends it to be.

Obama’s ancient 2008 work was a watershed moment in our social background, but does that imply we’re in for something as earth-shattering? We also have just over three months until the vote, and that’s an eternity in politics. Unfortunately, it’s hard not to have some pleasure after the speed of the RNC.
Tighten your chair belt. Between now and November 5, we’re in for a devil of a trip.
