The report, which was first obtained by Politico, stated, “The FBI and DHS remain concerned about the potential for follow-on or hostile acts of violence following this harm, especially given that people in some virtual communities have threatened, encouraged, or referenced acts of violence in response to the attempted death. ”
The report warned that “lone players ” or small groups of people will likely continue to target publicly accessible areas like political rallies and campaign events. ”
According to the FBI and DHS report, would-be killer Thomas Matthew Crooks purchased 50 rounds of ammunition at a gun store located in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, prior to the killing on Saturday. Additionally, the FBI was informed in the report that it had found three “suspected improvised explosive products, ” including two that were found in Crooks ‘ car and one at the shooter’s residence.
