The House Oversight Committee ordered Cheatle to resign following a contentious hear where Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle failed to respond to some of the most fundamental inquiries regarding the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump on July 13.

Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky. ) and Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-Md. ) signed a notice that Cheatle and the council sent to her and posted on social media. It’s an spectacular display of bipartisanship.

    The text reads:

Director Cheatle: On July 13, 2024, the US Secret Service, under your command, failed to protect former US President Donald Trump from an execution test that claimed the life of Corey Comperatore and critically injured at least two others. &nbsp,

You failed to respond to fundamental inquiries regarding that incredible operating loss and convince the American people that the Secret Service has learned its lesson and has begun to appropriate its structural mistakes and mistakes now. The Committee and the British people demand major institutional accountability and transparency, which you do not provide in the middle of a presidential election. As a first step, we ask you to step down as Director as a result of your request to allow new authority to address this problems and regain the trust of a truly anxious Congress and the American people. &nbsp,

    Sincerely,

    &nbsp, James Comer Chairman&nbsp,

After what some Democrats saw during the hearing, Cheatle’s call to resign her post is particularly outstanding. I wrote about Raskin’s use of his time to call for gun control this day.

He was n’t the only one. Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich. ) and Jasmine Crockett (D-Tenn. ) spewed even more egregious gun-grabbing nonsense.

Another Democrat uses the reading on the Secret Services ‘ problems at the Trump rally to discuss gun control and call for a moratorium on “assault weaponry.”

Rep. Ayanna Presley (D-Mass. ) did n’t ask Cheatle any questions, instead, she accused Republicans of being “racist” and” sexist” because they dared question diversity efforts within the Secret Service.

Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s issue about the Trump rally’s losses was not even questioned by the Secret Service Director.

At this point, there’s nothing else Cheatle can do but withdraw. Although whether she will resign after such outrageous conduct from Democrats on the committee remains to be seen, it is amazing to see republican calls for her resignation.
