In a rare glimpse into his post-prison life, Stella Assange, the woman of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, recently released a truthful family photo on social media. The picture, just captioned” Family photo”!, shows a smiling Julian with their young children, Gabriel and Max. Although the precise spot was not specified, local media suggested it was somewhere in Australia, Assange’s native land.
Julian has largely avoided the common eye since returning to Australia in June, where he had previously spent his previous 14 years fighting the US Department of Justice. Stella, who married Assange during his day at London’s Belmarsh captivity, had formerly mentioned his ideas to use his liberty by” swimming in the ocean every day”, sleeping in a real base, tasting true food, and enjoying his rights.
Due to this new picture, Stella had shared another photo on July 3, Assange’s day, depicting the pair in a wooded area with the comment:” Free”!.
Following a seven-year remain in Ecuador’s London embassy to avoid extradition to Sweden over sexual assault charges, which were eventually dropped, Assange spent more than five times in Belmarsh fighting extradition to the United States on charges under the 1917 Espionage Act.
Assange gained popularity for publishing hundreds of thousands of classified US papers on WikiLeaks ‘ reporting webpage from 2010 westward. While some praised him for his free speech, some viewed him as a criminal because he might have put US security and intelligence sources at risk. A picture was included in the newly released information, which showed civilians being killed by fire from a US plane gunship in Iraq in 2007.
In a plea deal, Assange admitted guilt to one count of revealing military secrets in a US Pacific island judge. He was given a 30-year prison sentence and was given the option to leave. But, Assange’s return to the US is prohibited by the US Justice Department without prior authorization.
