The 24-year-old influence Pan Xiaoting passed away during a video Mukbang session on July 14th, causing tragedy to hit the Taiwanese social media scene.
In Mukbang, a well-known custom from South Korea, guests consume large amounts of food in front of a live audience. Pan, who had gained a large following, succumbed to the intense needs of this tendency.
Pan Xiaoting started a side rush by starting as a waitress in order to complement her income by beginning live streaming. Her reputation soared, prompting her to keep her job and concentrate on streaming full-time. She received a sizable income from her enthusiasts as a result of this job change.
Pan continued to push herself to the limit despite her mother’s fears about the effects of her job on her health. To maintain a more polished layout, she rented a distinct studio for her streaming classes. However, her passion came at a higher price. She frequently consumed up to 10 kilograms of food in a single program and ate for up to 10 hours each day. These severe eating patterns led to many hospitalisations, including one according to gastric bleeding.
At the time of her suicide, Pan weighed 300 pounds. Although the cause of death was not revealed, reports suggest that her lower portion had a defect and her stomach had been overfed with uncooked food. An autopsy revealed the serious harm that her abnormal eating had caused.
According to Creaders. online, her parents were concerned about her hazardous feeding habits, urging her to halt. ” What’s the point of making more money? Do you realize how harmful this is to your system? they asked. Pan, but, reassured them, claiming she was “bear the risk”.
On social internet, there have been a lot of health problems as a result of the event. Many people are questioning the necessity of such extraordinary challenges and the stresses that influencers must overcome to entertain their audiences. Pan Xiaoting’s dreadful passing serves as a sage reminder of the possible dangers of Mukbang and the importance of putting health before social media popularity.
