Kamala Harris may have quickly gathered the needed backing from members to become the nominee’s choice, but her ascendancy to the position is by no means guaranteed. At least one significant Democrat donation is refusing to raise money for Harris, as I originally reported.

According to a subsequent Forbes report, Morgan is not the only megadonor who does n’t want Kamala to be the Democratic Party nominee.

Some Democratic megadonors immediately rallied behind Harris, including LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, the legendary George Soros, and his brother Alex.
Other wealthy Democratic donors, including Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings ($ 4.6 billion ) and venture capitalist Vinod Khosla ($ 7.7 billion ), suggested Democrats should take into account options other than Harris, with Khosla stating in a post on X that Democrats should “have an open convention and get a more moderate candidate” while Hastings tweeted that delegates must “pick a swing state winner.”
Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg ($ 104.7 billion ), who gave$ 20 million to support Biden last month, suggested Democrats should n’t “rush” to replace Biden as the nominee, tweeting Monday the party should instead “take the pulse of voters, especially in battleground states” during the four weeks before the convention is set to convene on Aug. 19.
Democratic fundraiser John Morgan said he would n’t fundraise for Harris, telling ABC News,” I do n’t think she’s authentic” and calling her failed 2020 presidential campaign “horrible”.

Since elected Liberals quickly rallied behind Harris and no one has raised a challenge to her, their demands for a more transparent process for selecting Biden’s alternative have not been taken into account. Let’s not overlook that Joe Biden may have been blackmailed by Democrats to make him leave, but that the benefactor class’s pressure to cut off funds for campaign funding caused them to do so.

If enough megadonors are upset about the lack of a process for choosing the best candidate and are persuaded that Kamala ca n’t win, they will likely have the same influence on her chances as they did with Biden’s as they did with her. Does Kamala be re-elected by the donation class? After what they did to Trump, everything is feasible.  ,
Even so, Harris is still the favorite to ultimately win the nomination regardless, but if the big megadonor cash does n’t come in over the next few weeks, anything can happen. They are not legally bound to voting for her, and they could change their minds between now and the convention, even though Harris has officially garnered the support of the majority of members in order to become the Democratic Party’s presumed candidate.  ,
