On Wednesday, Vice President Kamala Harris addressed people of Zeta Phi Beta, a historically Black college, to call on them to help her election campaign in November. Harris spoke three days after starting her plan and compared her two political outlooks to those of the day and emphasized her commitment to the future while gaining support from the college.
” In this time, I believe we face a choice between two different views for our society, one focused on the future, the various focused on the previous”, Harris said. ” And with your help, I am fighting for our government’s future”.
For the first time in almost 16 times, Indiana has not supported a Democratic presidential candidate. But, Harris, who is of Black and South Asian origin, spoke to a party now motivated by her historic nomination. With this support, her campaign hopes to expand its alliance.
Harris thanked the people who helped choose Joe Biden as president and her vice president. ” And then, in this time, our country needs your command once again”, she said.
Liberals still face difficulties as a result of the nation’s growing anger over great prices. Also, Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, survived a new assassination attempt, more energising his base. The 81-year-old Biden’s poor discussion performance in June led to more optimism in the memo than the outlook. On Sunday, Biden withdrew from the culture.
Harris mentioned Biden’s decision to move away and said that he would target the audience on Wednesday regarding his choice and praised him as a “leader with a strong vision.”
” We are all deeply, profoundly thankful for his services to our society”, she said before contrasting the present administration’s agenda with Trump’s.
” These radicals want to take us up, but we are not going back”, she stated. ” All across our nation we are witnessing a full-on assault on hard-fought, hard-won freedoms and rights”.
She cited the flexibility for a person to choose her figure and not have her state telling her what to do, as well as the independence to vote, to be safe from gun violence, to enjoy boldly, to “learn and embrace our real and full history” and to be free to choose where she goes with her body.
Trump attacked Harris repeatedly during a rally in Charlotte, calling her his “new sufferer to fight.” He accused her of mispronouncing her first name and calling her” Lyin’ Kamala” to deceive the public into believing she was a doctor. She was also referred to as” the most incompetent and far-left vice president in American history.”
Later on Wednesday, Harris traveled to Houston to meet with emergency staff and to explore treatment efforts following Hurricane Beryl. She watched Biden’s Oval Office statement from Houston.
On Thursday, she may address the national agreement of the American Federation of Teachers, which has endorsed her nomination.
The battle plans to focus on essential state known as the Blue Wall – Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania – to secure the needed 270 democratic vote. Harris also aims to be aggressive in different states, including North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada.
For Democrats, the help of Black people could be critical in November, and Harris has shown signs of galvanizing their help.
During the 2020 poll, AP VoteCast found that Black women made up only 7 % of the public. However, 93 % of them voted for Biden, contributing to his small victories in states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.
Following Harris’s plan statement, around 90, 000 Black women joined a plan video phone on Sunday nights. This show of support shows their support for Harris, a Howard University graduate and member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha fraternity. She has made Beyonce’s music” Freedom” her walk-on songs at events.
