The Spirit of Winston Churchill Once Again Fills the Halls of Congress

” We shall never fail nor fall, we may not diminish nor shoe. We will not be exhausted by the sudden shock of battle or the long-drawn trials of attention and activity. Give us the instruments, and we’ll finish the job.

Winston Churchill’s 1941 conversation, in which he implored America to aid Great Britain in the fight against the bad of the Nazis, came to an end with these well-known thoughts. Not fully supported by the United States did it arrive until months afterward, following the events of Pearl Harbor. However, Churchill’s glory was reflected in the petition for help and the victory promise. He has addressed Congress three days as the country’s president. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu almost seemed to be channeling the nature of the great head of 20th-century Britain, but that was broken today.

The senators and representatives existing acquiesced in earnest during Netanyahu’s speech, which was excited and fair, and received numerous standing ovations. Given the numerous obstacles He faced while traveling to the United States, this was even more outstanding. &nbsp, The sickness of Biden, the boycott of the conversation by prominent Democrats including Bernie Sanders, Nancy Pelosi, Jim Clyburn, and Ocasio-Cortez among people, and the lack of Vice President Harris ( who was busy at an Indiana college charity ) combined with protest outside the Capitol building to make Netanyahu feel unwelcome.

&nbsp, And but, when he walked into the Senate room, like Churchill before him he soon owned the area.

Netanyahu started his speech with a heartfelt and exact estimate about this ongoing conflict. &nbsp,” This is not a fight between societies”, he said. ” It is a fight between savagery and culture. It is between those who glorify death and those who proclaim career to be holy. Afterwards, an echo of Churchill’s criticism and warning about Hitler. History shows that better thoughts could not have been spoken 80 years ago, and Netanyahu’s words are extremely accurate today about the ills of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and all the proxies of Iran.

&nbsp, The prime minister spent a fair amount of time discussing the horrors of Iran, how these different groups are Egyptian toys, and Iran’s responsibility since 1979 to kill not just Israel, but the United States. He pointed out how pro-Hamas protestors are “useful idiots for Iran” and that” signs saying” Gays for Gaza “might as well be saying” Chickens for KFC”. &nbsp, He condemned the academic world that supports anti-Semitism on their campuses, and gave a brief but terrific history lesson about anti-Semitism, followed by a vow that Israel will always defend herself. In the first half of his speech, he recurring theme was” Never Again,” as he reminded everyone of the heinous horrors of October 7.

When he introduced Israeli soldiers who were present and shared their stories, including a Muslim IDF hero, Netanyahu emotionally moved everyone who was present. He criticized the lies about Israel attacking civilians and recalled how West Point’s John Spencer, the foremost authority on the history of urban warfare, was right to say that” Israel has prevented civilian casualties in war than any military in history.”

When Netanyahu discussed the U.S./Israel relationship and his future plans, he actually showed his brilliance in both concept and delivery.

&nbsp, Early in the speech, Netanyahu thanked President Biden for his support of Israel early in the war, and for being a” good Irish American Zionist. ” &nbsp, At the end of the speech, he expressed his gratitude and respect for President Trump. Netanyahu praised Trump when he spoke of the significance of the Abraham Accords and the relocation of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem. &nbsp, He spoke of the importance of the U. S. /Israel relationship for both countries, saying”, When the United States and Israel stand together, we win and they lose!. And he made it abundantly clear that battling our enemies calls for both courage and discernment. Knowing the distinction between good and evil is the first step in honesty. ” &nbsp, The prime minister was clear: &nbsp, The United States and Israel together is good, as opposed to Iran/Hamas/Hezbollah et al., which are evil. Sadly, too frequently in our culture, we forget that both good and evil exist. &nbsp, But Netanyahu, like Churchill before him, reminded us that it is our responsibility, privilege, and obligation to defeat the evil of this world as exemplified by Hamas on October 7.

People have complained that there is no hope for a post-war Gaza for the majority of the last nine months of the conflict. &nbsp, It is here where Netanyahu again showed his vision, and again based it on post-World War II.

Netanyahu made it clear that the first step needed to be achieved, using both Japan and Germany as examples of how to create a prosperous society following a devastating war. &nbsp, But he shared a vision for a successful and long-lasting peace as well.

&nbsp, Netanyahu proposed an alliance of Israel, the United States, and regional partners to monitor the renewal of Gaza. This alliance would help prevent the evils of Hamas or any Iranian proxy from spreading. This alliance would also help de-radicalize and make Gaza a fully self-sufficient nation: a productive neighbor and ally to Israel and the other countries in the area, as happened in Germany and Japan 80 years ago. He even proposed a name for it: The Abraham Alliance

This is perhaps the most meaningful piece to come from Netanyahu’s speech, as it proposed a process to obtain a long-term peace. This suggestion demonstrated the opposite is true for those who had previously percieved Netanyahu as a war hawk. Benjamin Netanyahu is a man who is dedicated to ensuring Israel and the region’s security. He is one of the greatest leaders of our time and has a commitment to working with the United States.

&nbsp, Welcome home, Winston Churchill. It was a blessing to witness the commitment and clarity you displayed 80 years ago in the words of Prime Minister Netanyahu in Congress.

And we can pray that, as the United States did 80 years ago, we will once again support a partner who is devoted to liberty and freedom.
