ANALYSIS: Consumers included Obama, Biden, and other Democratic political campaigns

According to a College Fix examination of federal and state social campaign donations, about 93 percent of the 25 top-ranked U.S. institutions ‘ leaders donated to Democrats.

Of the 15 leaders that The Fix found information on, 14 gave to Liberals, including 12 who gave entirely and two who gave mainly to Democrats but also donated smaller amounts to Republicans, &nbsp, just one donated merely to Republicans. That amounts to about 93 percentage donating to Democrat efforts, according to the study.

The Federal Election Commission, the democratic campaign research organization Open Secrets, as well as individual state federal campaign finance accounts, provided the research. Searches were conducted using the persons ‘ brands, including girl and thick titles, and current and past businesses.

The Fix‘s evaluation includes funds data from 2002 to 2024. Funds were categorized based on the candidate’s or campaign’s group.

The major 25 institutions that were ranked in U.S. News and World Report’s Best National University Rankings were used to determine the president ‘ positions in June.

The National Association of Scholars ‘ representative, Chance Layton, told The Fix in a phone interview on Tuesday that their analysis is in line with their research findings, which show professors in the liberal arts and humanities also tend to have a strong left-leaning bias.

” The statistics do not shock me anymore, it’s just a more piece of evidence that shows the lack of diversity on school colleges”, Layton said.

And he claimed that private politics do influence how colleges are run, citing administrations that are “run amuck” with “hard-core communist policies” that expel liberal and moderate scholars with things like variety statements in hiring practices.

According to The Fix, Brown University President Christina Paxson contributed the most money, giving in total$ 26, 750 to Democrat candidates and fundraising websites, The Fix found.

According to FEC information, her largest unique payment was made to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in 2014, in the amount of$ 15, 000. Additionally, Paxon made donations to John Kerry and Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential hopefuls.

The second largest came from Princeton University President Christopher Ludwig Eisgruber, who gave$ 19, 550 to various Democratic congressional candidates ‘ campaigns, and$ 3, 500 to former President Obama.

The only universities leader who donated solely to Republican efforts was Lee H. Roberts at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, who gave$ 17, 650 to Republican candidates, including U. S. Sen. Ted Budd of North Carolina.

Two leaders even made contributions to Republicans, largely through donations to Democratic candidates and funds.

In 2024, Paul Alivisatos of the University of Chicago donated$ 50 and$ 125 respectively to the Republican platform WinRed. Democratic candidates and funds, including$ 200 to the Democrat fund ActBlue in 2024, received the remaining$ 5, 688 of Alivisatos ‘ donations.

Farnam Jahanian, president of Carnegie Mellon University, also donated$ 2, 000 to Democrat Mike Doyle in 2019 and$ 3, 400 to a fundraiser for former Republican governor in Michigan. 2010 Richard Dale Snyder

The Fix emailed Paxson, Eisgruber, Roberts, Alivisatos, and Jahanian asking about their response to the study ‘ results half this year, but few responded.

Another president who gave to Democrat efforts were Martha Pollack of Cornell University, Sally Kornbluth of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, J. Larry Jameson of the University of Pennsylvania, and Thomas Rosenbaum of California Institute of Technology.

Ronald J. Daniels of Johns Hopkins University, Carol Christ of University of California Berkeley, Santa Ono of the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, Daniel Diermeier of Vanderbilt University, Gregory Louis Fenves of Emory University, and James E. Ryan of the University of Virginia even gave solely to Democratic activities.

The conclusions are in line with previous College Fix analysis as well. The Fix discovered that 96 percent of the roughly$ 2.5 million in political donations from Ivy League faculty went to Democrats in a 2022 analysis of public poll funds information.

However, only 4 percent of funds from a larger trial of U. S. institutions went to Republicans, according to another 2022 College Fix study of campaign contributions.
