Flooding has devastated vegetation and forced institutions to close&nbsp, in 30 villages across northern Myanmar, people told Radio Free Asia on Wednesday. &nbsp,

The rain-swollen Ayeyarwady River in the Magway place flowed over its banks, destroying 20, 000 acres of green beans, peanuts and sunflower in the vital agricultural territory, where most households land as a&nbsp, main means of income, one resident of Kamma township said. &nbsp,

The native, who declined to get identified for fear of reprisals due to the military government’s assault on independent advertising, said,” Flooding this year is very poor. The main grain in this region is the bean fields, which are largely flooded.

About 20 universities have been closed, he said, adding that five more settlements in Magway are also experiencing rainy-season flood.

Residents and relief workers claim that flooding has caused the displacement of tens of thousands of people in the area since the start of July. It has also caused the death of many people.

RFA telephoned Magway country’s dictatorship director, Myo Myint, for reply but he did not respond by the time of release.

The rainy season wo n’t come to an end until late October, but for the time being, the worst might be over.

The junta’s Department of Meteorology and Hydrology reported early on Wednesday that water degrees had receded below the risk level&nbsp, in Mandalay’s Nyaung-U town, to the northeast of Magway, and in locations to the south, near the water’s terminal including in the cities of Seik Thar, Hinthada and Zalun.
