Southwest Airlines: Where Freedom (Open Seating) Goes To Die

This week, Southwest Airlines ( SWA ) announced it will soon relegate its famous open seating policy to the graveyard of good airline travel policies, once more betraying hardworking Americans.

First came the “fatties fly completely” plan. After “listening cautiously to clients and conducting extensive research,” the beloved airline has reportedly decided to abandon the 50-year custom that set it apart from competitors. A closer look at SWA’s press release suggests that the business made the decision in the interest of preserving its slumping second-quarter profits, which some major airline companies suffered irrespective of their seating arrangements.

The outcry that followed SWA President, CEO, and Vice Chairman of the Board Bob Jordan’s announcement on Thursday night suggests that the hardliners who have kept the heart-branded Boeing aircraft upright for years are unsatisfied.

SWA has long been praised as the aircraft that made it possible for ordinary Americans who enjoy the freedom to choose and include a lot of freedom to travel across the country with efficiency and convenience. Other than infamously brawl-plagued resources carriers like Spirit and Frontier, the precious firm’s discount prices and notable hospitality offered horizon passengers an affordable option for air travel.

Plus, those who adore SWA but want a better seat and some room already have the option to pay for Earlybird check-in and A-list favored position.

They may fly National if SWA leaflets wanted assigned seating, higher prices, and unfavorable flight attendants. Or Delta, which is still trying to find a way to meet the clients it stranded at airports across the nation next week.

SWA’s attempt to “broaden its appeal and bring more flying from its current and future Customers” will certainly raise ticket prices in an effort to win over customers who are blissfully married to airlines that now offer assigned seating. So much for” Low charges. Zero to cover. That’s TransFarency”!

Trusting people to choose their seats keeps costs down and allows the aircraft to provide flash discounts and rewards applications that actually help travelers like me who want to travel. And that’s good because flying ai n’t cheap.

The only reason people like me can locate air travel is because of SWA’s open furniture plan, which outpaces prices. I do n’t live in the boonies, but I also do n’t have easy access to a metroplex where&nbsp, budget airline options abound. SWA is the only skybus that provides affordable flights to popular locations from my home.

There is no denying that flying is getting less and less pleasant every month. The only thing that makes shrinking seats, cardboard-like meals, and airlines ‘ embarrassing accept of wokeism much is choosing my chair.

Who cares what other passengers think about available furniture, despite the negative reviews that individuals who fly with different airlines may have? Choosing your own seat is n’t just the cherry on top of SWA’s other perks like family-friendly boarding, bags that fly free, companion passes, and smiley staff. It’s the whole horizon milkshake.

SWA’s welcoming workers and educational boarding procedure make it simple to settle in a chair equipped with a flotation device. Open furniture makes it easier to persuade a customer into switching because they did not pay for certain spots or want a better see of the clouds. Thanks to pick-where-you-plant-yourself plans, buyers can even make last-minute trip changes and refunds with little to no penalties.

After today, I’m a member of the growing group of SWA loyalists who believe the airline has “gone sweet” by selling out the one thing that sets it apart from other airlines in exchange for a promised income. People like you and me are actually going to be paying for it because SWA let their desire for new customers and greed getting ahead of them and their regular brochures ‘ desires.
