US Vice President Kamala Harris campaigned in The Settlements on Saturday, a well-known Democratic shelter and shelter for Donald Trump followers, in a bold move to get Florida’s important votes. According to Newsweek, video of the march, which show a lake of golf carts adorned with American colors, went viral on social media.
The Villages, a spacious retirement community in central Florida, has been a redoubt for Trump, who won Florida in both the 2016 and 2020 votes. Following criticism of his performance in the conversation and concerns about his age, President Joe Biden resigned from the race for president next Sunday. Soon after Biden’s departure, he endorsed Harris for the president.
During Harris’s” Weekend of Action” campaign, Democratic candidate Barbie Harden Hall shared videos on X ( formerly Twitter ) of enthusiastic Harris supporters, capturing the impressive turnout of golf carts. Hall wrote:” Numbers OF Sport CARTS! And I do n’t even know how many supporters there are along the way! The Townships, Florida is FIRED UP for @KamalaHarris”.
These videos rapidly gained momentum, with Jon Cooper, a Democratic charity, reposting Hall’s images. As of Sunday evening, the picture had amassed over 5 million landscapes. ” Believe me when I say it’s a SUPER-RED community that’s frequently a real hotspot of Trump help. It is” INCREDIBLE” that there are over 200 golf carts present at this rally for @KamalaHarris today! Cooper commented.
In response to the rally’s success, Democratic National Committee ( DNC ) chair Jaime Harrison appeared on MSNBC’s The Weekend, saying,” The Villages is a ruby red—there were 500 golf cart seniors riding around, and probably voted for Donald Trump, previously, supporting Kamala Harris. This is an energy on the ground that has n’t been present since Barack Obama in 2008.
Harris ‘ promotion efforts were supported by the Florida Democratic Party, which stated in a media release that she has “energised the whole Democratic center” over the past year. They reported that almost 10, 000 new participants from typically liberal places, like The Settlements, have joined the fight against Trump and Republican fanaticism.
With Biden’s current departure from the competition, polls on a possible Harris-Trump contest are limited. In a poll conducted by Redfield &, Wilton Strategies between July 22 and July 24, Trump surpassed Harris in Florida by 8 percent items, significantly more than her father, Biden. The surveys surveyed 6, 927 citizens, though the actual range from Florida was not specified.
