Herzog said,” The invasion of a military base by citizens, especially when done with the motivation and involvement of public authorities, is a severe, dangerous, unlawful, and irresponsible act that generally harms us as a people and as a state”.
Bezalel Smotrich, the head of the Catholic Zionism party in Israel, also backed civil protest against what he described as” the terrible injustice against the conscripts in the Sde Teiman.” He urged protesters to follow the law, avoid breaking into foundations, or confront specialists, though.
Following new requests for comment from UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Alice Jill Edwards, who in late May demanded that the Israeli authorities look into numerous alleged cases of” rape and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or abuse” against imprisoned Palestinians. The Israeli government appeared to have not taken any action to properly evaluate these allegations, according to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
