
After an hours-long conflict, Jacksonville sheriff’s deputies finally agreed to let one of the men on the charge of fatally shooting a singer in Tampa surrender.
Delegates and U. S. commanders tracked Rashad Murphy, 30, to an apartment complex on Collins Road in Jacksonville on Monday evening, the sheriff’s office announced Tuesday night on Twitter. Rules police arrived at the house just after 9 p. m. and began negotiating Murphy’s retreat, transporting people as they did so.
After almost three days of negotiation, a coroner’s office SWAT team breached the room window to push Murphy out. He gave himself up shortly after midnight.
The arrest came less than 12 days after the Tampa Police Department , announced the detention of three different suspects , in the June death of music artist Charles Jones, who , had been in Tampa celebrating his 26th birthday. Davion Murphy, 27, the second man charged in the shooting, remains at significant. He is Rashad Murphy’s aunt and is believed to be in the Jacksonville area, according to the sheriff’s department.
Jones, known by his stage name Julio Foolio, was killed in the killing. Three people were injured.
Rashad Murphy and his aunt are both alleged members of Ace’s Major Killers, a group in Jacksonville that rivaled the Six Block Gang, according to police. Jones was allegedly a Six Block part, according to the authorities.
Rashad Murphy, Davion Murphy and Sean Gathright, 18, carried out the shooting, authorities said, charging Jones ‘ car and fire at it as the driver tried to flee.
Two people, Isaiah Chance, 21, and Alicia Andrews, 21, are accused of traveling with the three to Tampa and helping prepare the shooting but did not directly attend. First-degree death and conspiracy to commit crime are both the charges against the five.
Rashad Murphy can be seen running with Gathright and an automatic weapon while watching surveillance footage that was released on Monday. Davion Murphy, wearing an orange mountain helmet, remained near the fence range and fired at the car with a shotgun, according to authorities.
Rashad Murphy was booked into the pretrial detention center at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office for a hearing at 1 p.m. He was scheduled to make an appearance before a judge.
