Due to a recent mass-caused food poisoning affair, many employees at TikTok’s family business ByteDance’s Singapore workplace have fallen ill.
According to Sky News information, at least 60 staff developed signs of gastroenteritis, including pain, diarrhoea, and vomiting. Out of these, 57 sought medical care at facilities.
ByteDance, which owns TikTok, said that it is now investigating the incident. Seventeen vehicles, fire engines, a large purification car, and the Singapore Civil Defence Force were dispatched to the ByteDance headquarters, as reported by The Islands Times. ByteDance’s business canteen is reportedly made up of additional vendors, with no on-site food being prepared.
A spokeswoman for ByteDance told Sky News,” We are investigating the matter and working with the relevant authorities on this.” ” We take the safety and health of our people quite seriously.”
The spokesperson continued, noting that the organization had “taken quick steps to help all affected workers, including working with emergency services to offer care.”
The Singapore Food Agency and Ministry of Health confirmed their intention to look into the alleged hepatitis cases in a joint declaration sent to CNBC and a member of Sky’s US networking NBC News. ” As of 30 July 2024, 60 people were reported to have developed gastroenteritis signs, of whom 57 have sought medical attention in facilities”, the speech said.
Founded in China, ByteDance has its offices in Singapore.
