Following the incidents of Hamas democratic president Ismail Haniyeh and top Hezbollah chief Fuad Shukr, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that his nation has” crushing knocks” to its opponents in recent days. While Netanyahu did not explicitly ensure Israel’s involvement in Haniyeh’s death, he highlighted Israel’s new military actions, including the assault on Hezbollah’s Shukr and other corporate targets.
Netanyahu’s remarks, delivered during a televised target, underscored Israel’s planning for any possible retaliation. ” These are tough time. There are risks from Beirut. We are available for any situation. We are prepared”, he said, emphasizing that Israel may react strongly to any problems. ” We’ll settle the score with anyone who harms us, people who massacres our children, people who murders our people, people who hurts our society”, he added.
Despite the significant military activities, the White House has not confirmed reports of Haniyeh’s dying. US National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby, expressed worry over the escalating violence, noting that the incidents of Haniyeh and Shukr add to the already tense situation. ” All of this adds to the complex dynamics of what we’re trying to get done”, Kirby remarked, signaling the global fear surrounding the war increase.
Hezbollah, however, confirmed the demise of its senior chief Fuad Shukr in a speech, mourning him as a “great hero on the path to Jerusalem”. In a current, fatal attack in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, Shukr is thought to have played a major part.
In response to Haniyeh’s murder, the Palestinian Authority established a national day of mourning, with Mahmoud Abbas, the president, calling it a” cruel work and dangerous creation.” Israeli groups across the West Bank demanded a general strike and presentations, marking a unique instance of unity among Palestinians in a time of extreme division and ambiguity. Arab banners were flown at half-staff.
