New Jersey’s restrictions on the sale and possession of AR-15 rifle was overturned by a federal judge on Tuesday after the judge ruled that the government’s” Assault Firearms Law” was illegal.
U. S. District Judge Peter Sheridan ‘s , decision , that New Jersey’s restrictions on the sale and possession of AR-15s violated the Second Amendment came after the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs and the Firearms Policy Coalition sued the state over the AR-15 restrictions as well as another laws banning higher-capacity newspapers, according to The Daily Wire.
In Tuesday’s choice, Sheridan referenced the Supreme Court’s past judgments on state gun restrictions, including the” New York State Rifle &, Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen” decision that overturned New York’s concealed have gun restrictions and required courts across the United States to see gun laws in light of the “historical tradition of firearm rules”.
” That is, where the Supreme Court has set forth the rules of our Nation, as a lower judge, I am bound to follow it”, Sheridan stated. The Court’s decision is required because of this principle and the foolish inaction of our government leaders in addressing the tragic mass shootings that have affected our nation. For these reasons and those below, the AR-15 Provision of Assault Firearms Law is unconstitutional”.
Sheridan argued that the Second Amendment protected the right to possess AR-15 rifle for self-defense, and that New Jersey’s restrictions was “inconsistent with our Nation’s traditional history of weapons rules.”

The Springfield Armory BM59 and the Beretta AR-70, both of which are currently prohibited under the” Assault Firearms Law,” were both reported to be prohibited under the” Assault Firearms Law” of New Jersey, which are not subject to the federal judge’s ruling. Sheridan’s ruling even upheld the government’s restrictions on higher capacity magazines. Sheridan cited recent mass killings as one of the elements in his decision to support the ban on higher capacity magazines in his argument.
Sheridan claimed that “many of these large shooting events have recently used large power ammunition magazines.” ” This partnership is impossible to ignore”.
Following Tuesday’s decision, Association of New Jersey Rifle &, Pistol Clubs Executive Director Scott Bach , announced that the corporation may be appealing the decision.
Although the decision is mixed and likely to be appealed by both sides, Bach said,” It is groundbreaking because it invalidates a misguided hardware ban that will ultimately be overturned.”
Democrats ‘ New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin threatened to appeal the judge’s ruling overturning the AR-15 restrictions, claiming that the judge had “undermined people health.”
