
The Indian High Commission in Colombo on Saturday night delivered the 21 Indian sailors who had been detained in Sri Lanka to Chennai Airport. These 20 American fishermen were released on Thursday after a successful negotiation between the High Commission and the Consulate General in Jaffna.

On Thursday, a Sri Lankan naval vehicle collided with an American fish ship about 5 nautical miles northwest of Katchatheeevu Island, causing the incident. Four American fishermen were aboard the fishing boat at the time of the motion; one fish perished in the collision, and the other two are still missing. The two surviving fishermen were then rescued and transported to Kankesanthurai.
Additionally, the Courthouse representatives made phone calls to their Indian households to check on their well-being and keep them informed of their condition.
The Sri Lankan Acting High Commissioner in New Delhi was summoned by the Ministry of External Affairs to voice their fiercest opposition to the event that resulted in the death of an American fish. The missing Indian man is currently being looked for.
In this challenging time, the Indian Consulate in Jaffna has instructed its officials to immediately go to Kankesanthurai and offer all the needed assistance to the fishermen and their families.
