Ali Haniyeh, the head of Hamas, was killed early on Wednesday in Tehran, just as he had made up his own security. Haniyeh’s murder occurred in connection with his well-known attend to Iran’s president Masoud Pezeshkian, where he also had an market with Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to reports from the New York Post.
In a video of Haniyeh walking through Tehran while wearing a white top and a black coat, he was seen discussing the alleged threats to his existence. In the video, Haniyeh declares,” Resistance means we are happy to walk the streets of civilized countries and move from one country to the next.”
Tragically, Haniyeh was killed at 2 am Wednesday in an assault at his Tehran mansion, which likewise claimed the life of one of his guards. Original assertions from Hamas identified an Israeli attack as the offender, but later reports suggested a bomb used in the attack, which was brought in by smugglers months earlier.
Haniyeh’s transition from a refugee camp as a child and his prison in Israel as a prisoner in Qatar underlined his important contribution to the radical Arab world. His murder took place shortly after he was seen cheering the Hamas assault on Israel from his posh Qatari business.
Hamas and Iran have both claimed that the Jewish state orchestrated the execution, despite Israel’s recent lack of comment on the affair.
