The , UK , has quietly brought more than 5, 000 Afghans to , Britain , since past October, The , Times , reported.
Dubbed Operation Lazurite, the goal involved moving past military officers, knowledge resources and their households out of , Afghanistan , and offering them lodging at military sites across the , UK. 150 Afghans who worked straight for the intelligence companies were among those who were evacuated.
The past Conservative government hushed up the number of moved people, according to a Whitehall source who spoke to The , Times .
Around 4, 000 of those moved to the , UK , were stuck in motels in , Pakistan , paid for by , London, with another 1, 000 having to travel to , Pakistan , on documents issued by the , Taliban , immediately after the operation began.
Many of those who reached the , UK , left their homeland because of , Taliban , challenges against them.
They joined the almost 27, 000 Afghans who had already been brought to the , UK , after the , Taliban , acquisition in , August 2021 , following the withdrawal of US-led coalition forces earlier that month.
According to the Whitehall resource, 700 homes have already been allocated to evacuees, and safety checks are being carried out right away.
