    Floods force 20,000 people from homes in Myanmar’s Bago

    About 20 000 people in Bago, Myanmar, have been forced from their homes by flooding caused by heavy downpours, and they now face a severe shortage of food and water, according to help workers and residents on Monday.

    A child was swept aside and drowned near Bago, which is famous for its Buddhist temples, about 80 km ( 50 kilometers ) north of the original investment of Yangon, after weeks of continuous rain, people said.

    In the midst of a 2021 military revolution that plunged the nation into terrible trembl, the flood has made it even more difficult for many people to survive in an economic issue.

    ” The flood has n’t subsided. I do n’t know how to express the hardships, the flooding amidst the political crisis. We’re facing shortages of food and medicine”, a Bago native, who declined to get identified for fear of reprisals for talking to the internet, told Radio Free Asia.

    Since Friday, 20 000 people have been forced to leave their homes, according to support organizations, with people of the neighborhoods Pon Nar Su, Kyun Tharyar, and Ah Htet Zaing Ga Naing Gyi especially affected.

    ” Those districts are flooded up to the height of bamboo”, said an established with a Bago-based social support group, who even declined to be identified.

    The official stated that the residents were urgently in need of clean drinking water and meal, noting that some individuals who had sought shelter in a comfort station were forced to reappear when the water levels kept rising.

    Three people were killed on Saturday when a boundary river burst its banks in Myawaddy town, which is located on the border with Thailand, according to citizens.

    Flooding in northern Myanmar ‘s&nbsp, Kachin state&nbsp, displaced thousands of people early this month.
