
In response to a massive and degrading security breach that led to the assassination of a top Hamas leader, Iran has made over 20 arrests, including those of older intelligence officers, military personnel, and staff members, according to two Iranians with knowledge of the investigation.
Ismail Haniyeh, who had led Hamas ‘ political office in Qatar, was killed early on Wednesday and was staying in northeastern Tehran, Iran’s money, to attend the opening of the new president.
The death took place within hours of Iran’s fresh president’s swearing-in service, which highlights how devastating a security failure this was for the country’s leadership.
