In light of concerns about an ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah and a wider geographical conflict, France on Sunday called on Lebanon’s people to leave the country” as soon as possible.”
In a very tense security environment, the foreign ministry’s travel advice notice for Lebanon again appeals to French nationals, especially those who pass through, to the fact that immediate commercial flights and those with stopovers to France are also available.
Paris is following Washington and London’s recommendations to their own citizens to depart on Saturday in its phone.
France estimates that some 23, 000 of its residents live in Lebanon, and next month around 10, 000 French people were visiting to the region.
Sweden also announced the end of its Beirut ambassador and demanded that its citizens resign.
The French foreign ministry had updated an information sheet on Thursday, making clear that commercial flights to France are still available, but it did n’t require citizens to leave Lebanon.
The government stressed on Sunday that European citizens were being “urgently asked” never to travel to Lebanon out of concern for a local conflict following Iran’s and its allies ‘ threats to react to Israel’s assassination of Hamas’s democratic leader.
Tehran, along with Hamas and Lebanese-based, Iranian-backed alliance Hezbollah, accused Israel of Wednesday killing Ismail Haniyeh.
Haniyeh was killed a moment after Fouad Chokr, the head of Hezbollah’s defense, was killed near Beirut in an attack carried out by Israel.
Hezbollah claimed on Saturday that it had attacked Israel with numerous Katyusha missiles in response to Israeli strikes on Lebanon.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims that his nation is “very prepared for any situation,” both “defensive and offensive.”
