During a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Joe Biden reportedly reportedly told him to” stop bullshitting me” as they discussed Hamas ‘ ongoing hostages-for-ceasefire negotiations.
After Netanyahu claimed that Israel was moving forward in the negotiations, which have not yet had fruit despite weeks of discussions, Biden’s anger boiled over, according to a statement from Channel 12 information on Saturday.
The heated conversation reportedly ended with Biden warning Netanyahu:” Do n’t take the president for granted”. In light of the two countries ‘ participation in the face of rising tensions with Iran and its surrogate organizations, which have pledged retribution in response to the current targeted murders of several criminal leaders.
Netanyahu’s business stated in a phone interview that the prime minister “does not engage in British politics and will function with whoever is elected president, and expects the Americans to not engage in Israeli politicians.”
According to The New York Times, Biden even criticized the timing of Hamas head Ismail Haniyeh’s death on Wednesday in Iran, calling it “poorly timed” and claiming that it put in jeopardized what the US believed would be a possible discovery in the negotiations over a prisoner release. At a press conference held on Thursday at Joint Base Andrews, Biden expressed concern that the activity might turn into a wider geographical conflict.
Netanyahu, but, apparently insisted that Hamas was to blame for the stalled conversations, a approach his company has maintained formally.
A senior Israeli official who suggested that Netanyahu has felt more complacent since Biden’s recent announcement that he wo n’t run for reelection in 2024, which The Telegraph cited, adding to the complexity of the situation. Netanyahu has gained more confidence in confronting Israel’s enemies with the desire of continuing US assistance, according to the official who stated that Biden’s selection has altered the relationships in the Middle East.
Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 election was prompted by concerns about his mental and physical sensitivity, which were made even more troubling by his June conversation effectiveness against former president Donald Trump. Vice President Kamala Harris, Biden’s possible leader, also participated in Thursday’s contact, according to the White House.
Iran threatens retaliation against Israel, which has not confirmed or refuted its role in the shooting, with the death of Haniyeh more raising tensions in the area. Biden formally acknowledged the assassination’s effect on the peace negotiations, stating that it “does n’t support” efforts to secure a ceasefire and the release of captives held in Gaza.
The Biden administration’s anger over being left out of the loop about the death plans came out in an Axios report on Friday, which extensive Netanyahu’s apparent commitment to prioritize the stalemate negotiations during his week-long visit to Washington. The tension in their political marriage as a result of the ongoing crisis, according to the report’s description of Biden and Netanyahu’s conversation on Thursday as” tough.”
