Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe, Jr. told reporters at a Friday media conference that counter-snipers had not been deployed to a Trump function until the legendary rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.
” It was the first time Secret Service counter-snipers were deployed to help the former mayor’s detail”, Rowe said.
” That means when they put Trump on trial in Manhattan”, said Jesse Watters, “every time when he returned from prosecutor to Trump castle, there were no Secret Service counter-snipers. For six months in a town with hundreds of windows and tall buildings, the entire world was aware of Trump’s schedule and location.
Rowe even stated to reporters last week that despite his disgraced president blaming local law enforcement for security problems that caused the deaths of Trump, two rallygoers injured, and a fourth one killed, the organization has not yet spoken with them.
” We’ll look forward to interviewing them and certainly getting their side of the story”, Rowe promised. ” This was a Secret Service disappointment, and so they should not be blamed. We’re certainly trying to shift blame to person”.
The gunman fired from the building, according to former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who claimed the balcony was left without protection because it was” slanted” immediately following the failed assassination attempt.
” There’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we would n’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof”, she said.
Without having previously fired anyone as acting Secret Service captain, Rowe said to lawmakers on Capitol Hill next year,” What I saw made me afraid.” I have no argument as to why that roof was n’t better secured.
Cheatle quickly gave up his position after he had trouble responding to Capitol Hill politicians ‘ issues. Preliminary results of an investigation into the firing by Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., found the Secret Service did not yet first plan to send counter-snipers to Trump’s Pennsylvania function, and the Republican’s battle was repeatedly denied calls for beefed up protection. The absence of sufficient resources to retain the original leader safe at the Butler County gathering had also been raised by local law enforcement.
A fresh poll found that the vast majority of Americans blame the Secret Service for the election’s 2024 safety problems. 7 out of 10 Americans believe the Secret Service “bears a high level of accountability for the execution try,” according to an Associated Press study, and 4 in 10 believe the firm bears a high level of accountability.
According to the same surveys, 3 out of 10 Americans felt “extremely or extremely confident” that the Secret Service could protect presidential hopefuls.
